Great Course for the money
Course was in decent shape. For the money and being early in the season it was great. Staff was nice. Pace of play was great even though course was crowded. Had a great time overall. Will play again
Still recovering from winter
I played solo and skipped one hole and two 4-somes in front of me. Was wide open after that and finished in 2.5 hours. Still pretty torn up from bad winter. Greens were mostly OK but low lying areas were dead. Bunkers are in good shape. New practice area is much improved. Usually pretty busy.
Fresh Meadow
extra hole on each green, 2 greens had dirt patches, you can tell the grounds keeper doesn't work at all.
Also, dangerous layout with some tee boxes right in line with previous greens.
Average course
The course is clean. Couple longer holes. Not much water or sand and wide open. One of our 4some was late and they were accommodating by pushing our tee time back 20 mins. The staff watched our every move to watch our time though, even though a 4some finished 18 in under 4hrs with a snack after 9. Kinda disruptive to your game. Worth $32 altogether.
Course is flat with limited amount of water.
For novice golfers. Course is flat with limited water. Par 5s too short.
Okay for the price
I would only recommend this course if you get a good deal. Many of the tee boxes are in very bad shape. The fairways are fairly maintained at best. The greens were in good shape.
horrible
This course is in bad shape! Will not go back and I do not understand why anyone else would either!
Decent place for what we paid.
We got a special that Fresh Meadows was giving, so that price was very good. The pace of play was okay, we waited a lot only on a couple of holes, nothing out of the ordinary. The tee boxes were in need of attention if not repair, some of the greens were a bit rough. Seems like they have been skimping on maintenance or just plain watering the place. I know it's been pretty dry lately, still, it does not look good. But for what we paid, it comes out about even.
It is what it is.
You get what you pay for here. The course wasn't in the greatest shape in the world but it does just fine when you know what you are getting into before you go. The greens were in good shape so I'll give them credit for that. Not enough yardage markers out there either so GPS or range finder would be helpful here. All'n'all, I would only play here again if I got another good deal. It worked for what I was looking for.
swing your swing in Hillside
I was happy to play on a Monday.
But, the course, the pro-shop is in deplorable condition.
The Village of Hillside should condemn the building.
Parts of the course and tee box looks like goats were herding/grazing..
Beverage/Snack/Cart attendant very good!!
Dog track - Not worth $30, much less the $55 they charge!
The course is absolutely destroyed right now. Tee boxes are dirt with small sprouts of grass laced with weeds. Most bunkers are more dirt than sand and are full or large rocks (which took a chunk out of my wedge). The range is poorly maintained which leads to range balls littering the course, especially on the 3rd. Every green has at least two cups. Overall a very poorly maintained course.
flat course where tee boxes need major attention
Tee boxes were half dirt half weeds on 10+ holes. Grass so uneven and unkempt that a good natural swing could be impeded by grass. course was dry. Saw people playing in basketball shorts and wife beaters lol. Greens were nice and rolled true. With deal it was only $34 to play 18 during peak hours.
Worst course of the season
Horrible or no tee boxes, like teeing it up out of the rough. Multiple open cup holes on greens. Dry/rock solid ground. Overall garbage track especially paying what they're asking. Not worth it. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else.
Lacking maintenance. Tee boxes were horrible and several sand traps were bad.
I've bern to this course many times in the past. But, my last experience was disappointing. It appears the course is having some financial difficulties. They are putting very little into the course. Don't get me started on the driving range. It's a downright embarrassment. I've seen dog runs in better condition.
Beaten by the Heat
Summer heat has dried out the course. It was in much better shape in the spring. It is not a 140+ slope $100 course. Knowing that, expect some bad spots and enjoy your round.
the greens were nice
the greens were ok fairways were so so tee boxes needed maintaining
Good for the Price
Alot Tee boxes are under repair (hitting off sand) green were great shape...good for the price. Had a great day!
Horrible condition.
I wasn't expecting much from the course having played there several years ago. It's relatively short and easy, but whatever. The problem is that they must have had some sort of issue with their grass this summer because half the tee boxes were nothing but dirt. There were also large swathes of fairway in front of several greens where the grass had been removed and it was basically just dirt. Do you think this was mentioned at any point when making the tee time or paying green fees?
I understand things happen (disease, aeration, etc.), but typically courses will let you know about it and lower their green fees temporarily.
Needs work but lots of potential.
At least half the tee boxes were under repair, there were numerous dead trees on the course. Despite the cosmetic appearance the course has a nice lay-out, a couple of sharp dog -legs, greens were challenging, not to mentionin it's in a convent location. It. Would be great to see someone acquire the course and renovate.
poorly maintained
The fairways are hardpan.
The grenns are like fairways.
