Home Course
Fresh Meadow is a decent close-in choice. It gets lots of play so condition and pace of play can be somewhat spotty. The par 4s tend to be longer. Lots of doglegs. Water in play on 4 holes. Full range and practice area.
Course condition needs more attention for serious golfers, but it's a fair value and OK for beginner golfers.
I used to play this course a lot in the early 80s, back when it was owned by the Jemsek family. I remember it being a much better course then. I don't know who owns it now but they aren't putting money into keeping it maintained like they should. You can get good discounts to play here now, but then you also get what you pay for... because the course is in pretty bad condition. For beginner golfers though, it's probably a good deal. I won't be returning though.
Course was average
Staff very friendly we could have started on back 9 due to slow play in front of us. Greens were kept well will go back to this course in the spring or summer months considering this is December and we are still golfing.
Good winter course
This place is too crowded in the summer, but this time of year you move right along. Staff is very nice. Actually some very long holes on here so pretty challenging..
Okay for a discounted price, but avoid the "sand" traps
Played 18 for $29 w/cart. Good price, wouldn't pay more than $35. Course condition was fair for time of year (mid-October). Fairways were fine, but many bare areas in rough and on tees, even on some greens. Greens are otherwise okay. The sand traps are a disaster! Some thin sand over crusty hardpack. After two attempts at hitting explosion shots off what amounts to asphalt, I considered the sandtraps as unplayable lies and dropped out of them. Course layout is okay (except for back-to-back par 3s), the staff are fine, beverage cart came by four times during the round (good).
The course is conveniently located from the Chicago Downtown area just off Wolf Road on Cermak Rd
For the price paid on GolfNow I've played better and more challenging courses; but if you are looking for a quick round where you don't have to face a lot of travel time this course is it.
Feel Good Course
As always, we go the Meadow for a relaxing round of golf- not a challening one. After 18 here, you do not feel as if you were just mentally kicked around for 4 hours. Not a difficult course by any means- but there are quite a few weaknesses... (1) Sprinkler heads have no place in the center of greens- ever! (2) They still do a poor job of keeping up with the balls off of the driving range leaking onto 2,3, and 9. (3) 18 still amazes everyone i've taken there, as you can lace a drive down the fairway, fade it around the dog-leg to that you'd think would be perfection. etc... only to get to your ball to see that you have no 'real' golf shot to the green due to a tree that has needed proper course pruning for years now. Yes, a punch and run is a real shot, but really? Having to run up to the 18th green and stop it before it falls off the back or runs through to the clubhouse or practice greens? It is what it is and is priced appropriately for what you get- just don't expect too much!
Fast greens
The course was great for the price. Friendly and moves at a good pace.
Flat course. Some challenging holes. Most pedestrian.
Bunkers need work. Greens faster than they look. A lot of hackers. Need to check if league play in progress. Play can be slow.
decent value-close in town location
hackers and lost balls abound- - -but, greens are in good/great shape this 2012 season, bunkers start great but hackers abound so be prepared for a challenge if you end up in one.
good value for a track that's only 12-15 minutes from the loop.
Average Course, Nice Price
Good price, pretty straightforward track. Not too challenging
Good value
The course gets a lot of play so it's a little beat up. There's a great mix of easy holes and challenging one's. The greens are well kept and fast. The staff here are super friendly and it's a great price.
It's fun when hanging with friends
It was a good deal for the price. Course has it's challenges and is quite fun to play.
