Hawaii Prince Golf Club - C/A Nines
About
Hawaii Prince Golf Club offers three nines that are similar but still maintain their own character. These nines are played in three different 18-hole combinations, one of which is C/A. This golf course is considered the most challenging of the three with water on 13 holes, sand bunkers, and prevailing trade winds. There are also several downhill and uphill lies lurking throughout. One of the most difficult holes is the second hole of the C course, a dogleg par-4 with a lake on the left and several fairway bunkers on the right. Formerly a sugar cane field, the golf course has a lush, verdant landscape with views of the Waianae Mountains.

Shorter Than Advertised & Slow Play
Fairways were decent but firm. Greens were soft and held, slightly quick and rolled true. Played C then A courses. From the whites the scorecard said just over 6,200 ft. Carts had GPS and the par 4's were always much shorter than advertised. No alternate tee boxes to explain 40 yd difference. Expect between 5800-5900 from the white. I was a single, expected to be joined up. Was joined with another single which was fine but the course was full. As a twosome I anticipated some waiting times, but 5 HOURS & 20 MINUTES was excruciating. With 3 Nines, the speed of play could have been better managed...never saw a ranger. Would recommend the course, but maybe only on a week day.
Prince Hawaii 27 holes A-B-C courses
I played A&C 9 holes. The two most important things to me when I play a new course is good greens (smooth & fast) and an interesting layout, the rest you can figure something out. The greens were relatively flat, smooth and fast enough to make them enjoyable to putt. The 2 9 hole layouts I played (A&C) are pretty interesting but not tight at all which allows you to spray the ball around a bit and not get overly penalized. There are only a few forced carries into greens as most bunkers are left and right leaving open approaches to greens from in the fairways. Overall I think it was a good value for Hawaii priced golf at $82 with cart when compared to most resort courses on Oahu costing 2 to 4X this price. I would definitely play again even though it’s not as dramatic as those other way more expensive other Oahu courses.
Good Course for the Money
Played this course twice. First day was a Monday and it was super crowded. Had to wait on every hole but still only took a little over 4 hours to play. However, played again on Thursday and basically had the course to ourselves and played in less than 3 1/2 hours with no rushing! Greens were in great shape but fairways were a bit thin. Overall this course was well worth the price we paid and I would recommend it for all golfers. Beautiful scenery on many holes!
