Hawaii Prince Golf Club - C/A Nines
About
Hawaii Prince Golf Club offers three nines that are similar but still maintain their own character. These nines are played in three different 18-hole combinations, one of which is C/A. This golf course is considered the most challenging of the three with water on 13 holes, sand bunkers, and prevailing trade winds. There are also several downhill and uphill lies lurking throughout. One of the most difficult holes is the second hole of the C course, a dogleg par-4 with a lake on the left and several fairway bunkers on the right. Formerly a sugar cane field, the golf course has a lush, verdant landscape with views of the Waianae Mountains.

Nice open course Photo submitted by Devin1073124 on 04/27/2013
green was awful
Fairway good staffs are good
but the green was so9oooooo ugly.
awful day.
Great Experience
Excellent conditions on the course. Course is pretty open with little trouble to get into. If you are a long hitter definitely play the back tees. Good prices (considering rest of Island). Played 27 holes for $127. This was on same day, so got the replay rate. I had the first tee time so played all 27 in little over 4 hours. Last 9 slowed up considerably. Staff was very friendly and accommodating for a last minute single.
Too expensive for visitors unless you get some kind of a deal through GolfNow
Wish they have marshalls to get some of the slower players moving.
OK
GOOD FOR PRACTICE. 27 HOLES ARE GOOD. I LIKE TO PLAY AT EVA AREA BECAUSE OF WEATHER CONDITION.
Great staff
I love the pace of the course . Staff was really nice and helpful. Food was not good and the free apitizer was a joke.
Nice, but not worth the money. Courses A C
This is a well maintained course in very good condition, but was unremarkable in most ways. The course did not have the types of stunning views you expect in Hawaii. The round was quite forgettable. Not what I would consider a value at the price, even at the twilight greens fees.
Decent course close to Waikiki
We got the best rate booking on Golfnow as a walk-up vs. the rate quoted at the pro shop. That was a surprise but I'm glad we checked before paying. The pro shop attendant was totally cool with it.
Pace was very slow on the front nine (waited on every shot) but pace accelerate on the back nine. Didn't see any marshaling. Fairways were ok but greens were a little rough. We'd go back.
A well designed course
Well designed course with bunkers in the right location, lots of high risk reward holes, greens were in great condition and very receptive. Friendly staff and nice practice facility. I would go back and try and play the B course this time ( I played A and C).
27 holes
starter & ranger do a great job. Even with a large outing they got us right out & we played 18 in 31/2 hours.
The course is in good shape and a nice view
The course was nice but there was two five somes in front of us that slowed play a bit
Excellent, challenging, well conditioned course for the price
Wouldn't have tried this course without golfnow deal. Having lived on this island, I wanted to play on a challenging, nice course instead of my normal, wet condition courses that Im use to on the wetter side of the island.
I always knew Hawaii Prince was a nice course located on the west side of the island, but never thought about it because of the cost. However, with the golfnow, resident deal, I was able to.
Checking in was easy and the staff were friendly. You can pull up to the front and the well staffed employees can take your bags out for you if you desire. They are also well informed on where groups are on each of the 3 9 holes course. Originally my group of 4 were going to play the BC course, but the starter was informed that there were a few groups already on it, so he put us on the CA in order to avoid us having to wait. Smart choice!
The cart was average. No GPS nor golf or club cleaner on it. Also, no cooler. For a resort course, I would expect there to be those on the cart. A GPS would have helped since it took us a while to figure out that the markers were on the fairway and not on the golf path, which makes it usable at time unless you hit the ball into the fairway.
The course itself was very well maintained. Each tee box makes you think your shots and club selection, however most you can use your driver. It's the second shot that makes you think more, as water and woods come into play on almost every hole. Fairways are well maintained and rough is easy enough to get out of. Sand bunkers are maintained well, as there were sand in each. Bringing a good amount of sleeves of balls is recommended, as the woods or water will eat it up.
Being that it is on the drier side of the island, gives you some nice picturesque views, especially during sunset as the sun will make the sky "cotton candy" like. The greens were very good and not to challenging, which makes 2 putts very possible. Speed were just right, not too fast nor slow.
Overall i would highly recommend this course and I will definitely play it again. This will probably be my top three courses on the island, close to Turtle Bay Arnold Palmer and Ewa Beach Club course.
Nice course
Great course but be prepared to golf with all the tourists from Asia. There must be some kind of package deals for Japanese. It was packed with your buses. But pace of play was still good and the course is near perfect. Had a blast and played the best front nine in my life.
Thanks.
Christmas golf
My wife was off-island so I played golf as a single on Christmas Day. Was paired with a school administrator from Atlanta who was visiting his son (who had to work that day). Course was in good condition. Because it was a holiday, the course was moving quickly, there were a lot of two-somes out there. We got done in about 3.5 hrs. Because the course is on southwestern corner of the island in Ewa, the weather is almost always good here--doesn't rain as much as the eastern (windward) side of Oahu. There are may tee boxes and only a couple of forced carries, so the course is suitable for players of all abilities.
Nice course
Nice course. Pace of play was excellent. Good value.
Super Value
I and my wife played $25 each for 18 holes which is unbelievable price in Hawaii.
So-so for the price
Ok, so it's Hawaii so golf is not cheap unless you are a local. But paying $90 for twilight you at least expect a few items (GPS on cart, clean cart, cooler with ice, maybe a water, etc.). Course is in decent shape and very playable. It's a a decent layout but not anything over the top interesting.
I played Ko'olau Golf Club later in the week and that was much more difficult but not in as good of shape as this course.
I'd play this course again but more in the $60/round range given the lack of amenities.
Memorable weekday round
The young men working the starter desk were super friendly. Pro shop staff were also friendly and efficient getting us out in less than 10 minutes. Fairways were being cut as we played and the teeboxes and greens were nicely cut. Greens ran true and were medium fast. Being a two some and very few golfers out on the course, we finished in just over 3 hours 30 minutes.
Have played all 3 nines mostly during tournaments, itwas nice to play a regulation 18 hole round.
Definitely be back soon!
Windy Daze.......
The staff was great from the pro shop to the cart attendants.....no beverage cart...boo! even on a day when the course was full.
The course was in fairly good condition except for the greens were extremely slow...very frustrating. That said, the fairways were some of the best I have played in recent years. Also folks in Hawaii know when the wind is gonna blow...25-30mph++ and should adjust the tee markers accordingly for those holes into the wind.. While I don't crush the ball any more, I challenge the big hitter to even get to some of the par 4s in two...
Great Golf Experience
Played Hawaii Prince while a Guest at a local resort hotel. Got a very nice rate via Golf Now; course was in very good condition and the pace of play was outstanding. I played the "C" and "B" nines (here is my one criticism: they could be more imaginative with the naming, this is Hawaii after all...) and finished in less than 3 1/2 hours, so I paid a little more and played the other 9 holes - aptly called the "A" nine. Started at noon and finished all 27 holes around 5:00! Staff was very nice. Just a perfect golf afternoon. Spam Musubi at the snack bar was delicious!
Aerated greens
The fairways were in beautiful shape but they had just aerated a few days before and the greens were ugly and hard to judge. They did have a discounted rate but it was still too much. Had the greens been in better shape, the course would have been in perfect shape. However, I do understand the need for aeration.
They also have a wonderful Sunday buffet with open air seating and it is lovely.
