Pheasant Run Resort is one of the Chicago area's most respected resorts. It offers an 18-hole golf course that is playable for a wide range of skill levels. The course is short at just over 6,300 yards from the back tees, but it still provides a fair amount of challenges. The fairways are tight and there are water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The bunkering is minimal but strategically placed to keep you on your toes. The front of the greens are invitingly wide-open and beginners will also appreciate that they are mostly flat and easy to score on. The golf course starts out with a tricky par 5 that doglegs right past the 200-yard marker and there is a water hazard that crosses the fairway. The back nine is slightly longer and also more challenging.

One of my favorites
For being mostly flat I just like this course. It has some good challenges and something unquantifiable that makes me come back. Greens are fairly easy to read and reward good putts. Nice range. Deceiving par 5s. Long par 3s. Balls can often sink through to the bottom of the rough though, which may require a different club or strategy for shots that land in the thick near the green.
It's Allright
There should be a note or warning for those getting tee time in this course because of big road construction en route there.
I've played at other golf resorts for better price. This resort's course I would say compared to other courses in the area just comes average. The only plus I experienced are the staff that helps you with your gears specially cuz I was tired after our round. Excellent assistance.
easy play
not a difficult course. disappointed halfway house was not open late may. hidden creeks, look out!
Great Greens, Way too Slow Pace
The greens were in terrific shape. The rough was tall which made it hard to find a ball. It took us almost 5 1/2 hours to play our round!! Slow is to be expected on a beautiful Sunday,b ut it should not ever take that long!!
This course was well maintained
The rough could have been mowed slightly lower. We had difficulty finding balls in there.
Course is in graet shape
Loved everything except the rough was to long causing many lost balls and waisting time looking for balls in the rough
Avereage
This course used to be a great place to golf. Now it seems they do not maintain the fairways as before.
Great track-great staff
Other than some longish rough, course was very well maintained. Greens smooth as a baby's butt, with collar cut
and bunkers as they s/b. May be best "hidden" gem out west.
Starter (Sam) a piece of work and finished with clean clubs and a thank you from the mgr and PM starter.
Will be back!05/09/2013
The course was in excellent shape
The course was in excellent shape. The greens putted well. The course was not crowded at all. We had a good time.
A gem of a course!
An excellent, challenging course. Well maintained greens, friendly staff, clean fairways! A great round of golf for all levels of play. If you live in the Fox Valley, it's a must !!
This course has some very tricky holes
Excellent course that is quite challenging and in GEAT shape. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Great value for the money
Not a super long course, but definitely has its challenges. Other courses in Chicago land charge a lot more money and are not even close to as nice as this course. Played it in late April and course was in excellent shape. Definitely worth checking out
very nice people
The course was only partially open because of extremely heavy rains that flooded out our private club,. However, under the circumstances even having 10 holes open is to be applauded. The staff couldn't have been nicer, the pace of play was fine and the course, what we were able to play, was in very good condition. It also was a great deal at $35, which I assume was a special discount rate because they weren't entirely open.
course terrible
mud everywhere and greens were the slowest ive ever played on.
GREAT LAYOUT
PHEASANT RUN IS A GREAT RESORT COURSE. IT IS NOT
VERY DIFFICULT BUT CHALLENGING. ALSO THE PRICE
WAS RIGHT. I HOPE GOLF NOW CAN OFFER MORE COURSES AT THE SAME PRICE
Greens are closed until summer, but course is open.
Nobody tells you the greens are closed until summer (not even golfnow). So get ready to put in the middle of the fairway, which is not what I am looking for. I would rather go to St. Andrews 5 minutes away that has open greens to actually putt on. Pheasant is a great course when the greens are open, we really have fun here. The gentleman in the pro shop was a good guy.
Course starts out with a very challenging par 5, 1 st hole, fun course.
Always enjoy playing out at Pheasant Run, course is always fun to play being a traditional layout with a good mix of holes. The staff here is outstanding, extremely accommodating and professional, (Hats off to Jamie!! he is outgoing and very kind, always shares welcomed information on upcoming events and specials). We'll be back when the season kicks off. Thank U
LOOKING FORWARD TO RETURNING when the greens are utalized come spring.
I really enjoyed getting a chance to golf in IL in January and therefore understand that maintainence is no longer part of the equasion as well as having temporary greens. That is part of the game with winter golf in Chicago area.
greenfee should be $15 everyday all day
it's called "green fee" for a reason
4-6 greens are worse than most $50 dollar course fairways.
