Course Highlights
A tricky layout with a creek weaving through risk-reward holes and well-placed bunkers consistently challenges and rewards golfers across the Chicagoland area. Exceptionally friendly staff, solid course conditions, and a well-regarded on-site grill make this a standout value.

Blackberry Oaks in Bristol is a public golf course that has been recognized as one of the Chicagoland area's best courses. The course design utilizes the natural beauty and hazards of the landscape including the native wetlands, grassy prairies, and towering stands of mature oaks. Blackberry Creek also meanders through the course. In addition to the natural hazards, a heavy smattering of strategically placed bunkers was also incorporated into the design. Although it can seem intimidating, the golf course isn't overly formidable if you can manage to stay out of the sand and water. The third and 12th holes are two par 4s that are memorable for their water hazards. The third has a lake along either side and the 12th has a green that is almost entirely surrounded by water.

In terrible condition

The greens are still suffering from last seasons distress. No maintenance done of any kind. No hole, they just raised the cup up above the ground. When I booked on line I thought I was getting a good deal for 18 holes. But it turned out to be a bad deal for 9 holes. On a positive note, I'm glad I only had to play 9.

First time at Course

Thanks for opening.

I had difficultly finding next tee box from previous greens.

Since there were no signage, no waiting and ample space between two-somes in front and behind, there were no indicators where to go. In the end, no harm done, except lost time and lost energy needlessly pushing cart around extra distances.

2 hour 9 holes, including about 15 - 20 minutes attempting to tee off at three wrong tees boxes.

Saggy but immensely enjoyable

We played in the afternoon after a tremendous downpour the night before. The course was understandably quite waterlogged but the greens still had pace and the course was in great, but soggy, shape. We played in four hours and enjoyed the new GPS and Bluetooth speaker enabled carts. The staff in the pro shop and at the bar were very friendly and helpful. We always enjoy playing this shortish but sporty layout.

Great course

I played this course for the first time after a weekend of heavy rain so no carts, walking only. There is water on 16 of the 18 holes and the course was barely able to contain all the moisture it had received. It was still one of the nicest courses I've played all year and the layout is beautiful. The greens are fast and true, the bent grass fairways held up well and it wasn't that bad to walk. Not even wet socks, lol. Because it was walking only I pretty much had the course to myself and finished in 4 very enjoyable hours even without a cart. The staff and grounds crew do a great job. I'll definitely be back!

Course in great shape.

Always nice to golf Blackberry. Well kept course with a challenging layout, nice carts and friendly staff. Also nice to see a lot of younger kids taking up golf.

Tuesday = TOOslowday

Tuesdays the course hosts a senior men's league. this means from 7:30 - 10:00 a.m. groups of older player go out and spend 15-20 minutes on most all par 4's and par 5's.

Nowhere to be seen is a ranger pushing proper pace of play. So, unless you have 5-6 hours to play, Tuesdays you need to stay away!

Tuesdays Stay away, unless you like very SLOW play

Played this past week Tuesday late morning tee time.

The grass on the range is a joke. If they don't want to maintain the grass they should go mats only and charge nothing!

Unfortunately we were unable to complete 18-holes, as the pace of play was on for a 5.5-6 hour round thanks to several VERY slow old men foursomes and NO RANGERS pushing pace of play!

This course needs a ranger when they send out large groups of Seniors (apparently every Tuesday morning) otherwise, warn players before they book!

15-20 minutes on all par 4's and 5's is NOT acceptable and nobody from the course says anything!

Great value!

Great value for the price. Course was in nice condition. Staff was very friendly and the pace of play after the third hole was outstanding! Relatively short course but some tougher par 3’s. Fairways were in outstanding condition. Greens were very good with the exception of some divots that folks didn’t repair. Come on folks...fix your divots as well as a couple of others. I would play this course again.

BlackBerry

Quite a bit of traffic recently from the shape if the course.

Always a fun course. 18th hole takes two lucky shots for the average golfer. A bogie on this hole is acceptable for the weekend warrior.

Will Play again Soon

Enjoyed the layout and course a lot. This was my first time playing and the weather was great and I shot well. I was pleasantly surprised. Golf carts have USB and blue tooth speakers built in which is a nice touch as I like to have some music playing. Staff was great, bar and food afterwards was nice. Course layout was fun and many different types of holes to play. I thought the conditions of the fairways and greens was very good. I did notice a few bunkers had some rocks in them. If those get cleaned up, I have no complaints.

I will be back.

Beautiful Landscape

May be the nicest course I play. As a senior that requires a medical flag on my cart the front tees offer a less difficult challenge. As you move back on the tees it can become very difficult as there is water almost everywhere.

Food and clubhouse are at best average but I do not golf any course for the food and bar.

Staff has always treated me with respect and courtesy.
