challenging, more so with lack of rain, greens need attention
Played many times. With the lack of rain, even less forgiveness, if that is possible. Fairways and rough in need of irrigation. Greens very chopped up, in need of much attention. Won't play again until maybe next year.
Nice Layout, but not in good shape this year
I enjoy this course as it can be challenging, but this year the course is not in very good condition. The greens are very beat up, and in serious need of repair. The fairways are in okay shape, and the rough is starting to get thin.
Good value for a nice course!
Through golfnow you can usually find some good deals here. The course itself is usually in pretty good shape. Close to pristine. The only exception is that people don't fix their ball marks or divots very well. So, not really the courses fault. It's a tough course. Lots of target golf. Narrow fairways for the most part, lots of hazards and good amount of water. Fun though. Not really designed for beginners. Overall a really good value and a course in great shape.
nice course, friendly staff, good price
The course is well maintained, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the price is right. The layout is nice and the abundance of water more than makes up for the shorter distances. You have to make shots and you will pay for your mistakes. It is a very well balanced course.
SLOW!
I teed off at 9:30, and didn't get done until 2:45. My group kept pushing the group in front of us, but they were content to sit back as everyone in front of them crawled.
The course is EXTREMELY narrow, with a lot of gimmicks to keep you from hitting drivers - on just about every hole, there was some sort of hazard about 270-280 from the back tees, so I was always laying up. From the tips, it is only about 6400 yds.
Greens were in decent condition - just like most other courses around here, no one knows how to fix a ball mark.
The course is challenging and well maintained.
I liked the course for good maintenace. The starter was very friendly which I liked very much.
Great Course
This is my very favorite course to play. Several years ago I was intimidated by all the water & some of the tight fairways but that inspired me to play smarter instead of banging the ball into trouble. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a challenge. I often bring out of town guests so they can also enjoy this course and its amenities.
Arboretum/Waterworld
Signed up as a single and was paired with three ladies on the front nine and they played at an excellent pace of play and drove the ball well. The back nine I played with three guys and they were excellent to play with as well. Starter was very concerned that I was paired with three ladies and checked after three holes to see if everything was okay. There seems to be water everywhere and course knowledge is very helpful.
Beautiful Course
This is a challenging course in which you must, at times, play target golf and leave the driver in the bag. You can score on this course, but you have to play smart.
hot deal
22 dollars was a cant miss for this course. Great deal
Arboretum shows its grace
Visiting the area and played Arboretum for the first time. The course was busy due to the excellent summer rates so be prepared for a slow round. Course marshals help to keep the pace of play moving.
Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in nice shape. Most of the trouble is found on the right side of the fairways but the course is not too long, even when playing from the tips.
I paid $38 on GOLF NOW and would absolutely recommend Arboretum as a must play offering incredible value.
Great Challenge!
First trip to the Arboretum, and I will be definitely coming back! This was a great par 72 challenge course with lots of water and precise placement shots. If your looking for a good value and good challenge this course will be to your liking!
Tight course with water in play on many holes.
Fun course. Many tight fairways with several holes where your the tee shot had to carry over water. If you can't get the ball in the air off the tee for a reasonable distance, you are really going to struggle on this course. A couple of interesting zig-zag holes, where you needed to manage your tee shot with less than a driver or you would hit through the landing area and have a difficult second shot. Challenging small greens on the par 3s.
My only complaint was the pace. The starter tried to space the foursomes, but the front nine took over three hours. No ranger in site to enforce the pace. Total round was over five and a half hours.
One of my favorite courses
Very interesting layout, beautiful and well maintained for the most part, although many of the bunkers needed attention but that was likely a by-product of the torrential rains of last week. The greens were a bit on the slow side.
The course was not crowded so pace of play was not an issue.
Also, some people need this message: that rake is there in the bunker for a reason, USE IT! Otherwise I have to believe you are either a) lazy or b) stupid or possibly c) both.
Got a great deal on Golfnow, which is how I get the majority of my tee times these days. Fantastic bargain.
Nice course
Course was not perfect in condition but was better than most. Some holes for first timers can be extremely difficult to figure out.
Great Course w/ a Solid Challenge
I've now played this course twice and both times, it has been in really good condition. The folks at Arboretum take very good care of their course and you can tell from the minute you step on the first tee. The course and the area received A LOT of rain a few days prior to playing it and even still, was in great shape. Very little standing water. The only problem I had all day was that one of the mowers ran over my ball on the first tee. Just wish they wouldn't have been mowing the first tee at 11:15 in the morning when a bunch of people are trying to tee off...
This course has great features
Course is in excellent condition, Fair ways are in grete shape,Greens are in excellent condition.
Country club conditions and atmosphere
Tight but fair course, not long, but challenging. Some carries needed over water and rough, but attainable by an average golfer. Houses are near the course on most holes, but they don't interfere with beautiful natural golf landscapes.
Tough but fun
Course is in good shape and is fun to play. Slow group in front of our 2 some really slowed us down.
Doesn't have to be long to be challenging.
This course proves that a course doesn't have to be long to be a challenge. In fact, there are many holes where you can easily out drive the fairway and cost yourself an extra stroke. Emphasis is on making good shots. Keep it in play and you can score well easily. Fairways are nice, rough not too deep but thick enough, trees are well placed to provide penalty for errant shots, and the greens hold . Overall, very nice public course.
