White Deer Run Golf Course
About
Situated on the Cuneo Estate in Vernon Hills, White Deer Run Golf Club has a beautiful landscape dotted with sparkling lakes. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, meaning there are some uneven lies and the occasional blind shot in store for you. There are not many trees but numerous bunkers lurk beside the greens and, of course, water is a pretty prominent presence throughout the golf course. Due to the plentiful and strategically placed hazards, the course puts a premium on accuracy. The layout is challenging but fair and it is also player friendly enough for beginners, offering ample room off of the tees. White Deer Run Golf Club's design contributes greatly to the course's playability, but that is also partly due to the immaculately manicured fairways and fast, well conditioned greens.

A Very Nice Public Course - If only the public would take better care of it!
A very nice public course. As the subject mentions, I wish the public respected it more and made it easier on their great grounds crew who have to bring it back to life daily. People. Replace your divots Fix your ball marks!
Lots of fairway bunkers on this course that will only get better with each play. We will be back.
Great fun friendly course
Great friendly course - fun - challenge- and great golf views / holes that u want to see on a round.
Quality has gone down
I had not played White Deer Run for several years becauise it had gotten so expensive. I tried it again because I got a hot deal for $60. This is a $60 course, not the $90 they normally charge. The amenities have gone way downhill over the last few years. Also, with all the sand they have on this course, they need to maintain it better. I could not get under the ball because the sand was like concrete.
White deer run
Course is good, too many notifications while riding the cart. Even if nobody is in the back still keeps getting messages that keep up the pace. Accidentally I enter parking lot with cart I got disabled and nobody to help. I had to switch the cart. The cart path is miserable to drive as broken and debris and big pot holes. They should fix it as golfers are paying. Customer service not good
Will Be Back
Lived in Libertyville for 3 years and this was my first time playing here. I’ll definitely be back. Was lucky to get a single tee time day-of on a beautiful Saturday. Pace of play was the worst part (5 hr round). Course was in great shape and I enjoyed some of the fun nuances of the layout.
Cart paths and carts need an upgrade
This is a fun course and its always in decent shape but its not walkable and cart path only conditions after heavy rain highlighted some serious issue. There were a ridiculous number of pot holes and the carts had no shock absorption whatsoever. I would not play this course again unless they pave the paths.
What happened??
The weather couldn’t have been better.
However, that’s NOT under the courses per view.
Logically, what is?
1. The cart paths are in a terrible state with break making the cart ride terrible. Smooth them out.
2. No cart person to offer snacks, food & beverages on course.
3. Why were a 2-some and a single put behind our 4-some? We stopped into pickup a plastic bag of ice and drinks. While the 2-some behind us rolled up to the 10th waiting for us…put them in front of us. The starter should be aware of this.
4. No cooler on the cart.
5. All that stagnant ponds throughout the course stink & needs a fountain to avoid the algae accumulation.
6. Some sprinklers were left ON causing unnecessary flooding in several areas.
7. The stone around the 9th tee is a lawsuit in waiting…
8. All these inequities are easily resolvable and unfortunately seem to be ignored. Come on guys - You’re better than this!
Worth the ride.
Course in great shape and always has great pace of play.
But seriously can you please buy a few rakes. That one in the cart does seem to be working.
Great Track
Nice layout and incredibly well thought out. Greens were rolling exceptionally true for mid April. Only complaint is that there’s no distinction between walking and riding prices, so I had to pay $100 to walk 18 (less my golf pass membership discount). Not sure if I’d play here
Tough but fair track
It’s a touch track, with some local knowledge needed for how to attack some holes. The greens were slow due to recent airation, but the rest of the course was in great shape for an early season round.
Really enjoyed this course.
Went out on a GolfNow deal. Really enjoyed the layout of the course. Tee boxes were in great shape and the bunkers were playable. Great, challenging track.
I only wish that all the people out there who can regularly afford $100/round for golf would figure out what those little $4 divot repair tools are used for because I’m pretty sure most people out here are using them to check for earwax instead of fixing the ball marks they leave on the green.
NEVER AGAIN!
AGAIN, I could not have been more disappointed in the Ranger on the golf course!! Finished 18 in four hours, well in front of the group behind, and just behind the group ahead, BUT THE RANGER CONSTANTLY lingering around telling us to play faster. This is not the first time this has happened, so assuming the direction comes from the Pro / GM. I don't need to pay $100, play in 4 hours, just to have the Ranger make us miserable. There will be no next time, I'm finished playing here!
White Deer is Just Beautiful
I've played White Deer Run many times and have played some of my best rounds there. It was in great shape and I have always thought it is one of the most beautiful courses in Chicagoland. Saturday was no exception.
The only negative this time around was that the pace of play was pretty slow. This is one of the first times I have played it one the weekend and maybe that was the difference. Overall, great experience.
Overrated
More power to this course if they can fill their tee sheets charging well north of $100. The greens were in good shape but the fairways were full of unfilled divots. The bunkers were covered in foot prints as the course decided to put the rakes in the carts leading to a lot of golfers to forget it and then not rake. The cart paths were in terrible condition. I played this course 5 years ago and enjoyed it immensely while paying over $100. I enjoyed the layout and was looking forward to a nice round. The conditions during this round were disappointing.
