Chevy Chase Country Club
About
Chevy Chase Country Club (formerly known as Traditions at Chevy Chase Country Club) in Wheeling is one of Chicagoland's top public golf facilities. Thomas Bendelow designed the golf course in 1925. The classic layout remained largely the same until 2002 when a major renovation updated the course and made it more challenging. The layout now has deep pot bunkers lined with tall native fescue that border the generous, rolling greens and undulating fairways. Though it is more challenging than it was, the golf course still offers a player-friendly round. Four sets of tees also ensure that golfers can play to their skill level. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 5 that features water both left and right of the landing area off the tee. Three massive bunkers and yet another pond all fiercely guard the green as well.

Chevy is in nice shape.
This course maintenance is immaculate.
Fairways running, greens running, bunkers in great shape, rough somewhat mild clovery.
Practice putting green but no driving range.
First time I have played this course since the the mid-late 80s so the remodel is new to me.
I've always liked the layout...it's more than just up and back.
It was a hot day and I was a single with no place to go...I ended up only playing 11 holes.
This is a nice course...go play it.
Phenomal
Chevy Chase Golf Course is by far the best golf course around. The staff was very professional and extremely Nice. The food was extremely delicious, but the golf course was immaculate. Every hole was perfect. No flaws. I will be going there again soon.
Beautiful Course
Immaculate course! Moderate speed greens! Friendly staff and perfect pace of play. We’ll be back!
No Range
We showed up early to hit balls at the range, but no range. Maybe this is common in the Chicago area and we are not used to it, but that was disappointing.
GolfNow should make this known to their customers, not the golf courses fault.
EVERYTHING else was fantastic! The course was great, pace of play was great, staff was great!
Great course, clubhouse with great potential.
The course is beautiful, great value for the price. The clubhouse is very new but with an inconveniently located, and oddly small restroom. A small complaint to be sure, but I found it very strange. I'd go they're again and recommend it.
No ranger
Great course, love this place. Cart path only due to previous nights rain. No problem. Keep the fairways in good shape, except the 20 something boys discovered that they could drive up the fairways in reverse. No ranger to be found. Lack of effective management.
Better than expected
Having paid only $65 to walk on a Sunday morning , I wasn’t expecting to be overly impressed. But this course has a pretty interesting layout. Only a few boring holes. From the midnight tees, the length was moderately challenging. Conditioning was mostly good, although it would be better if greens were faster. Overall I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely come back.
Great place, but not great pace
First time here and booked a twilight tee time on a whim. My first solo round also resulted in my first ever birdie and continued improvements to my game. Had to tee off at the 150 mark due to a wedding on the first hole, grouped with a dad & younger sons before I zoomed off. It was very windy on the first 9, not as much on the back 9. Fairways were great, tee boxes were so-so given it was late, and the greens were fast. The wind wasn't the issue, it was the pace of play.
Normally I hate being hounded for pace. If you really want to be a rule reader, do that at a private course. I spend the same as other golfers, I'm just having a good time...but today I understood. Maybe that's twilight golf in a nutshell (first time twilight round). Didn't see a ranger once, idk, no cart girl either. I was able to play through other groups (including multiple walking groups of kids basically playing pattycake) until around hole 13 when pace completely stalled. Me, another solo, and a group of 3 were racing against sunset basically as a group of 5 rest of the way (shoutout to those guys). That compounded at hole 15 behind a group of ladies straight up chatting on the tee box with nobody on their fairway or green. We didn't have enough time to play 15-18 due to sunset, so we skipped all of them to just flip around and play 8 & 9 again.
Overall good experience and nice looking course, but no ranger presence and not even getting to play the entire course due to the pace of others soured things a bit at the end. I'll be back at some point.
Great place to play
Great course awesome staff we play here all
The time and love it
Early season
Overall the course was in fairly decent shape considering the amount of rain that fell the last week. Greens were surprisingly good.
