About
Chevy Chase Country Club (formerly known as Traditions at Chevy Chase Country Club) in Wheeling is one of Chicagoland's top public golf facilities. Thomas Bendelow designed the golf course in 1925. The classic layout remained largely the same until 2002 when a major renovation updated the course and made it more challenging. The layout now has deep pot bunkers lined with tall native fescue that border the generous, rolling greens and undulating fairways. Though it is more challenging than it was, the golf course still offers a player-friendly round. Four sets of tees also ensure that golfers can play to their skill level. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 5 that features water both left and right of the landing area off the tee. Three massive bunkers and yet another pond all fiercely guard the green as well.

The time and love it
Early season
Overall the course was in fairly decent shape considering the amount of rain that fell the last week. Greens were surprisingly good.
Soggy day and No Bev Cart!
Chevy has always been a solid decision for the $, this was a very soggy day, cart path only with carp literally flopping around on the fairway. Old timers may enjoy that so many trees have been removed over the last few years. Greens were in good shape, and fairways were pretty good where they were dry.
But I don't understand why there's no beverage cart driving around on a Friday?!? And the 2 guys in the bar are slow and mostly unappealling....opted to skip my 19th hole drink. Fix this please!!

Had a great round out at Chevy Chase and it’s definitely a course I’ll be coming back to.
The **layout** stood out right away—challenging enough to keep you engaged, but fair and enjoyable for all skill levels. It’s the kind of course where you can really get into a rhythm and play confidently.
The greens were rolling smooth that day, which made a big difference. You could trust your line and speed—always a great feeling when you're putting well. The **fairways were nicely cut and in solid condition**, giving you clean lies throughout the round.
Shoutout to the staff as well—very friendly and welcoming, which always adds to the overall experience. One unique bonus: they have an **indoor simulator**, which is clutch if you want to warm up properly or get some swings in before heading out.
✅ Final Verdict, Looking forward to getting back out there soon.
Great course
I have wanted to play this course for a while and finally got to it. For it being late November the course was in great shape. Frost delay in the morning but the staff did a great job of making everything work.
Can’t wait to play next year during the peak season
Starter tried to kill us
Starter asked us to play early as 2 some. Then decides to send 2 gents with us. Not a problem, but we had tee’d off we were in the middle of the fairway and he told these 2 gents to hit into us. The is dangerous. We could gotten seriously hurt. He should have had them drove out and drop in fairway. NOT SAFE.
Pace of play was slow. 5 hour round. Course wasn’t that crowded. No ranger. Ball marks all over the greens. Tee box chewed up on spots. No one was particularly friendly or unfriendly.
145 bucks with carts. Not worth it. Only practice facility was putting green. Tiny pro shop.

Love Chevy Chase golf course
My golf buddies and I love this course. It has multiple tee boxes so players can play the tips or move up to tees that fit your game. There are times it can get a little slow on the course but not often. Greens are in great shape and roll nice. They do not have a range and sadly they took out the outside net they used to have to warm up. But I large putting and chipping green. Give it a try you won’t be sorry.
I teed off early
By far the best starter in the business. Friendly and helpful, I need to get you on your way; it doesn't get any better than that.
