Nickol Knoll Golf Club

About
Ever since opening in the mid '90s, Arlington Heights Golf Club has been considered one of the best par-3 golf courses in Chicagoland. It is certainly one of the most unique with three holes that feature vertical-drop tee shots and two holes with uphill tee shots to the green. Although this nine-hole course is only 1,163 yards the large bentgrass tees and greens provide the feel of a full-length course. The layout has nearly 30 bunkers strategically placed throughout and water comes into play on two holes. From the elevated tees you can enjoy a panoramic view of the area, including stunning vistas of the Chicago skyline. Whether you're a beginner looking to get some practice or a scratch golfer who wants to get in a quick round, Arlington Heights Golf Club is a fun and challenging option.

Best bang for buck.
Can play in a bit over an hour. Same cost as a movie but better .
Perfect for Practicing Your Short Game
I really enjoy playing this course. I played for the first time in August and I’ve been back twice since then. The first time I played I got teamed up with two other people who were very nice, There were groups in front of us and we still finished in less than two hours. I’ve gone out by myself a couple times finishing in one hour. For the money, it’s a great course. And there are many things about it that make it special. Besides being a nice course, Walter Payton used to practice by running up and down what was a garbage dump before it became a golf course. There’s a shrine to him on one of the holes also beyond the green of one of the holes through the trees, you can see the entire Chicago skyline in the distance. It’s also nice as I’m only 10 minutes away. I could see this becoming a course I visit at least once a week.
Short game
Every golfer should start by going ti the range and then playing par 3 courses before playing regular courses. This course has helped me hit my irons, chipping, and putting!
Course is in good condition and very inexpensive. The pace of play can be very slow if you go at the wrong time. But I love to take my daughter there to learn the swing!!
Great course for beginners or working on short irons
I’ve played Nichol Knoll 100+ times. It’s a great course for beginners or if you want to work on wedges, sand traps, short game. Plays in about an hour, maybe a little more. On a hot deal, my wife and I played for $15 altogether. Paired with another couple and we had a great time.
Staff is courteous but once you’re on course, you’re on your own.
Highly recommended for learning the game and working short game.
Great place to learn the game.
As a new golfer, This was a great experience. No pressure, Friendly environment.
Will be back in the future.
A Quiet Gem, Tucked Away
This course is one of my favorites in the Northwest burbs. The layout is spectacular with multiple elevation changes, water hazards and other challenges, but very beginner friendly. If you’re looking for a quick 9, wanting to work on your approach or chipping, this is the place for you. The pace of play here is very fast, or very slow and deliberate (your choice). It’s not rushed at all. Par 3 courses are usually “hit or miss,” rest assured, the Knoll is definitely a hit. It’s laid back. The staff is helpful, and friendly. I come here with my daughter once a week, and it never disappoints. You won’t find a better value in the area. BTW, motor cart rental is available, but walking this one is way better.
Great for Beginners or Quick Play
I took my dad for his first time golfing. It’s a great course if you are a beginner and the bigger courses are too intimidating. Or if you want to get 9 holes in under two hours. The staff was extremely friendly, and the course played great. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Good but slow play
The course is great for kids. Quick easy to try all clubs. Very simple to walk but challenging enough to play. Very friendly and courteous staff. Overall 8:10
Fun Course!
I remember playing this course years ago with my wife. I was in the area and decided to get a little exercise. Great time!
An Excellent Course to Learn, Practice, or just Have Fun!
I went out to get some exercise and that's exactly what I did. The pace was okay. I was paired with a 3-some of family members who were very enjoyable to play with! My game isn't very good right now, but it was still fun. The hilly terrain (yes, in Illinois!) provided a reasonable workout. Excellent value!
Possibly best par 3 in Chicagoland
A really manicured course. Country clubesque The greens need to fill in a bit. Scenic hills. Just perfect for some fast exercise and quick recreation.
