Not Bad!
This was the first time I played CCC. Considering it was my first time out for the year after a brutal winter, I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course. I thought it was in excellent shape including the greens. The course played very forgiving as trees and plants are not in full bloom yet. I played as a single until I caught up to the coffee clutch crowd... and then it dragged... I eventually had to skip holes to get in front of them. There were no rangers speeding up play and that's what usually happens. Outside of that, it was enjoyable and I probably will come back.
Recommendations mean a more crowded course.....
Remember this... Sometimes we rate a course poorly to help ensure that it doesn't get over crowded. This is one of those courses you would consider underrating to preserve availability and pace of play. We ended up here due to many local tourneys in the area and weren't expecting much. It's an older course (no bent grass here) and there's not a lot of frills in the clubhouse, but the layout is fun and the relaxed local-course-feel is refreshing. Also, the greens fees are very reasonable. I shot a bit over my handicap which left me wanting another shot at this course. I'd play it again.
Beautiful Day!!! SSLLOOWW PLAY!!
We played on Labor Day and the round was 5 hours and 15 minutes. Never saw a ranger on the course.
That being said the course is fun because of the elevation change. There are not many courses in this area that can have a green elevated by 75 feet. I would play during the week when, I am told, it gets pretty light play.
Great people
Could use some work on a couple of fairways, but overall well maintained, Played the morning after a severe wind and rain storm, and the course was surprisingly dry and clean.
A bit challenging but a memorable and relaxing experience.
Our group always has fun when we play this course. It is an older course built along the Fox River that offers different challenges on almost every hole. While not offering pristine conditions, the course is well maintained in spite of uphill fairways and elevated greens or elevated tee boxes overlooking fairways.,the course provides a fun and memorable golf experience and the staff in the pro shop and restaurant are always very pleasant and accommodating.
best condition the course has been in for the past 10 years
good value for the golfnow price. condition of the course was above average for courses in the area. pace of play was also better than average for courses in the area.
Nice Course
I would give 5 stars to the course and pro shop. If you are getting food before tee off, make sure you order a hotdog and not from the menu. The waitress was great but the cook took 30 minutes to make a reuben and 2 turkey clubs. I guess he was in the weeds as there was 1 other table of 4 people in the restaurant. Luckily the waitress was able to make the food to go so we could make the tee time. Give the waitress a raise and retrain your cook.
Classic Course.. Beautiful Old Trees. Hidden Gem
Short Course for modern standards, but plenty challenging. Smaller, sloped greens that usually roll slow but true. Great test if golf for all levels of play. Some of the best views in the area.
Short but not a pushover
Short but very scenic, Cary CC is a fun course that tests your accuracy skills. There are plenty of holes with wide open landing areas but there are some where you really should think before you rip it. Elevation changes abound so select the right club if you want to get it close. You can score if you keep it in play but trouble lurks nearby if you lose your focus.
Beautiful, scenic course.
Course was in great shape except for three holes that were damaged by flooding, but the damage was not in the landing area of the fairway , so it had no affect on play. Views of the area from the elevated tees were beautiful. play was at a steady pace and the staff was very accomidating. Highly recommend to the average player.
Great value
This was my first time at Cary CC, and I will definitely be returning. Staff was very friendly and courteous, and the golf course was beautiful. Pristine views on a hilly layout made the course very unique and with the hot deal price it was extremely reasonable.
Fun, Unique Course
This is an interesting course that's fun to play. Its pretty wide open with lots of elevation changes. In terms of condition, its not meant to be a top notch track. The fairways are good, but not the fine, bent grass that you'd find on a $100+ course (same with the greens). All-in-all, a good, inexpensive way to spend an afternoon.
very well maintained
Course was well maintained but not a distinct variance between the fairway and rough. It offers many elevation changes unique to the Chicago area with very few water hazards.
Country club atmosphere
Greens were rolling true. Fairways and rough we excellent. Course is open but has many elevation changes that make it challenging
Decent layout but very very slow play.
Close to 5 hours to play a wide open 6160 yard course is pathetic. No rangers. Starting times way to close together.
The course was very bumpy.
It was very difficult to move the above cursers, I really like Cary Country Club but found the ground very bumpy. And the pace was very slow, it was a beautful day and everyone who could play was out there, very croweded.
Challenging fun without losing more than a ball or two.
Played h50 of last 53 years. Challenging for an "easy" course. I'm a 15 and find it hard to shoot in the 80s. 3 blind greens (perhaps with the exception of #11) don't detract. Opportunities to grip it and rip it, without major penalty.
Pretty course
Great elevated tees and greens. Play was very slow - rangers were not moving folks along. Foursome in front of us were taking between 7-10 minutes on greens lining up putts! Course in very good condition considering drought.
