Gorgeous View on the Second Tee Box Photo submitted by JBlissed on 06/25/2018
Tough hole placements
I have not played there in a few years. The fairways are not too long and the greens are at 11, pretty fast.
Some of the hole positions are tough, have to be hit below the pin to 1 putt, otherwise expect to 2 or 3 putts. Overall the course is in good shape. We caught out to a 4 some outing at hole 12, it slowed down from there on.
Ladies Friendly
Play often with my wife and we love that CCC has a distinct difference between long and forward tees. CCC is our favorite of the 3 Cary golf courses.
Elevation
Some really cool holes and views on this course from high up looking down onto the fairways and greens. Will for sure play here again and I live over an hour away.
nice. lay out golf course
I like the course the way lay out.
Good maintain the course , I wish green has little more speed would be nice.
Rolling hills
The course is in good condition considering the weather over the past winter and the rain so far this spring/summer
Cary CC Hills
My first time playing the course. I thought the course was extremely hilly. Tough to ride, probably difficult to walk. I did enjoy the par fives though. The fairways where somewhat long, hard to locate your ball.
Would probably not recommend to a novice golfer.
It was different from most courses. The cart paths needed re-paving, a bumpy ride most of the time.
Would probably not play anytime soon. Nice scenic views.
1st '14 Cary visit
Was able to get a great deal for our tee time. Pace of play was very good. Course in pretty good shape, rough was a little long. Greens with enough slope to make putting tough. Staff was friendly, though short (no starter, rangers). Saw a family of deer (4 total). Weather was very nice.
Conditions
Condition of the course was very impressive, especially considering the winter.
Like playing Scottish highlands.
The moraines and gravel hill prairies of Cary provide some unique challenges for golf as well as unusual viewscapes. With the weather this year, I felt like I was playing in the Scottish highlands. I have played here twice this year, once in early April and once in early May. I was impressed by the great job the staff has done to get the tees & fairways green and well manicured since I last played. A few of the greens need some time to recover from the severe winter, but all are playable. I like the variety of play on the course and the new carts are another plus. You can't expect the staff to put leaves on the trees, but they deserve a lot of credit for the care they put into providing a wonderful round of golf.
Start of the season
This course is fun every time I've gone out and played it. The greens were a little bit beat up, but that's to be expected given that it just snowed about a week ago. Overall, the course is well maintained and I like the elevated tee boxes and greens throughout the course. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to play 18 on a fun course.
Played in Hail
First time playing Cary this year, and a new first. While the weatherman predicted good weather and 70, it was windy, then a sudden storm came up dumping hail on the course. Fortunately, 20 minutes later the sun came out and quickly melted everything. Finished the round in under four hour including the stoppage. Course was in good shape for this early in the year!
Not Bad!
This was the first time I played CCC. Considering it was my first time out for the year after a brutal winter, I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course. I thought it was in excellent shape including the greens. The course played very forgiving as trees and plants are not in full bloom yet. I played as a single until I caught up to the coffee clutch crowd... and then it dragged... I eventually had to skip holes to get in front of them. There were no rangers speeding up play and that's what usually happens. Outside of that, it was enjoyable and I probably will come back.
Recommendations mean a more crowded course.....
Remember this... Sometimes we rate a course poorly to help ensure that it doesn't get over crowded. This is one of those courses you would consider underrating to preserve availability and pace of play. We ended up here due to many local tourneys in the area and weren't expecting much. It's an older course (no bent grass here) and there's not a lot of frills in the clubhouse, but the layout is fun and the relaxed local-course-feel is refreshing. Also, the greens fees are very reasonable. I shot a bit over my handicap which left me wanting another shot at this course. I'd play it again.
Beautiful Day!!! SSLLOOWW PLAY!!
We played on Labor Day and the round was 5 hours and 15 minutes. Never saw a ranger on the course.
That being said the course is fun because of the elevation change. There are not many courses in this area that can have a green elevated by 75 feet. I would play during the week when, I am told, it gets pretty light play.
Great people
Could use some work on a couple of fairways, but overall well maintained, Played the morning after a severe wind and rain storm, and the course was surprisingly dry and clean.
A bit challenging but a memorable and relaxing experience.
Our group always has fun when we play this course. It is an older course built along the Fox River that offers different challenges on almost every hole. While not offering pristine conditions, the course is well maintained in spite of uphill fairways and elevated greens or elevated tee boxes overlooking fairways.,the course provides a fun and memorable golf experience and the staff in the pro shop and restaurant are always very pleasant and accommodating.
best condition the course has been in for the past 10 years
good value for the golfnow price. condition of the course was above average for courses in the area. pace of play was also better than average for courses in the area.
Nice Course
I would give 5 stars to the course and pro shop. If you are getting food before tee off, make sure you order a hotdog and not from the menu. The waitress was great but the cook took 30 minutes to make a reuben and 2 turkey clubs. I guess he was in the weeds as there was 1 other table of 4 people in the restaurant. Luckily the waitress was able to make the food to go so we could make the tee time. Give the waitress a raise and retrain your cook.
Classic Course.. Beautiful Old Trees. Hidden Gem
Short Course for modern standards, but plenty challenging. Smaller, sloped greens that usually roll slow but true. Great test if golf for all levels of play. Some of the best views in the area.
