Far Oaks Golf Club

About
Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville has a unique layout with a front nine that is designed in a Scottish-links style and a back nine that plays through rolling woodlands. The links holes are framed with native prairie grasses and wildflowers while mature oak trees line the fairways on the back nine. There are plenty of elevation changes throughout the golf course, making it hard to find a flat lie. Mounding and strategically placed bunkers lurk treacherously along the greensides and there are also several holes with water. Far Oaks Golf Club is a challenging course that demands accuracy, which is most apparent on the 10th hole. Although it's not the longest par 4 on the course, it is still challenging thanks to a slew of bunkers that border both sides of the green.

Amazing course bad pace of play
The course has country club conditions but the pace of play was awful when I played. Everything else is great besides some houses on some of the holes but that’s just preference.
Excellent conditions!
Course in superb shape, greens were excellent. Staff super welcoming and friendly. Even have white sand bunkers.
Has come light years from several years ago. Absolutely blown away after not playing it for 4 years or so.
Rounds took under 4 hours but not many people out that morning.
Far Oaks
Course is in great shape. Fairways are unbelievable!
Local point of view
The course has matured over the years to a well conditioned test. New sand in the bunkers is a plus both for playability and aesthetics. The greens rolled true but show the shortcomings of heavy play. ie lazy golfer who refuse to properly repair their ball marks on the greens. I will not fault the greens staff on this point. I have a new appreciation for this track.
One Of The Best Courses in the St. Louis Metro Area
We played Far Oaks after an all-day rain the day from former hurricane Beryl. The course was not as wet as you would have expected. There was no standing water in any of the new, white bunkers. There were some drainage issues on some of the fairways but not awful.
The course was in great shape. They have even started to do some very small and shallow aeration holes on the greens. These tiny holes do not effect the green surface and no sand is spread on the greens. The weekday price for seniors of $43 is a steal.
They have done some major weed killing along the par 3, 13th hole and along the left side of the 17th green.
Things that need some attention, is the vegatation growing too high in front of the beaurtiful par 3, 6th hole. Really blocks the beauty of the hole. The tee markers are very hard to decifer to which color they are. With only the color of the tee around the white logo of a small log tee marker.
Play Far Oaks this summer, you will enjoy it.
Beautiful course
Course is in great shape. Greens rolling nice. Staff always very professional!
Great course
For public course, it was an excellent shape and then greens rolled very true.
Slow Round
I was very disappointed in the pace of play, it was over a 5 hour round. We waited on every hole for the group ahead of us.
Over all rating of only 3 was due to the slow pace of play.
Great Course & Conditions, Bad New Tee Marker Design
Far Oaks Golf CLub is my 2nd favorite course in the St. Louis metro area (behind Annbriar). With the new white sand bunkers, the course looks great. The greens were perfect and had some speed to them. The weekday senior rate of $42.99 is outstanding. The course marshall was actually friendly and thanked us for playing their course. Some of the fairways have some rough areas (holes 3, 5, 15).
They now have new tee markers which look like the ones they use at the Masters. A small log with the edges cut off at 45 degrees, with the each end painted white with the Far Oaks logo in the middle. The only way they differentiate between the tees is the border of the white area is painted a different color.
The all look like white tees until you get right on top of them. Not sure of the thinking of this design.
Far Oaks
Course is in good shape. They did a nice job of redoing their sand traps .
