Simply a classic
Maintained and plays as if it was that old private Cc. Every hole is different and challenging in its own subtle way. This course could charge way more for what it is but probably just wants people to play it, enjoy it, and keep coming back. You can tell whoever owns the place now, cares more about the players, the course, and the game of golf rather then turning a profit. And whatever the profit has been made, if any, is most likely going back into maintenance and allowing the possibility to continue carrying out its history
Nice Course, Traps Need Work
I liked the course, it was competitive but the sand traps were a mess, They were rock hard and did not have much sand in them.
It also appeared there was one drink cart person for the whole course , which left us thirsty at times.
Solid track
Conditions throughout the summer were excellent. Hats off to the ground crew! A real pleasure to play.
Great time!
Enjoyed my first time back in many years. The course and especially the greens were in great shape. I look forward to coming back.
Underwhelming
I’ve been looking forward to playing this course for the first time for some time now. I took my daughter to play her first 18 hole round. The course layout is great. Difficulty is average. I could tell that it was once a very nice private club. Since going public it seems to have dropped in quality and upkeep. The round was about $55 for two non members. There are plenty of courses in the area that are less money and better maintained. Glad I checked it off my list but not sure I’ll be back. Overall a good experience but nothing to write home about.
Beauty in McHenry
It’s a beautiful golf course in McHenry county. Lot of trees & some water hazards made it very challenging for me as I was playing here the very first time. Nice layout & well-maintained fairways & greens (much better conditions than other golf courses in the area). The only problem I noticed was to locate next hole. No signs at # 17 for hole 18. Likewise same problem at a few other holes. Also, pace was terrible the day I played because a large group was playing 36 holes tournament. I was unable to play all 18. Hope this is not a routine issue at this golf course.
