Wading and Splashing!
Been a few years since I played it. Traveled 1.4 hours to find out that they had gotten a lot of rain and actually closed one of the east nine (offering no discount). The course was near unplayable, but they allowed cart path only. A 30 min downpour basically flooded the course to where is was standing water from tee to green. Cath paths flooded in several areas so all day driving through it, walking through it made for a miserable day and a waste of money. It was a holiday so there was no way they were closing the course. The course has always been very nice, just got too much water this time. Hope to return on a much dryer day and be able to play the good side.
Great course
Course was in great condition!! Ranger and attendant were friendly and pace of play was fast …. Only got 9 holes in before a torrential downpour but were offered rain check and will gladly be back!!
Fun Track + Phenomenal Value
I do not think that you can find a better value, in the Central IN area; than Otter Creek!
WOW!
This Jones course, only 45 minutes from Indianapolis — I will absolutely be a return Golfer; for many future rounds!
The Course is in excellent shape and very clearly well-maintained and cared for; by the Staff.
This was my first time out @ Otter Creek; but the layout is gorgeous; challenging at times, but fair; and one of the more fun rounds I have had this Summer!
First timer
Enjoy the course staff was very friendly pace was a little slow but enjoyed my round tremendously.
quick greens and some roll on fairways
greens in good shape and quick. fairways had some roll. heat has been factor on tee boxes and fairways. only deficit is lacking yardage markers. even markers on cart paths difficult to see. kudos on new carts but any GPS system would have been appreciated.
Glad we played
We were looking for a get away weekend of golf. Played here on a Sunday morning. Really interesting layout. I’m not much on a lot of blind shots, but it was ok. Ranger finally showed up on the 16th hole to tell the threesome in front of us that they were 2 holes behind.
No water and no beverage cart, but we always bring water so we were good.
We really liked the course, tough, but fair.
Stay and eat after the round, the food was very good.
Otter creek
Had a horrible experience at this course. Just tried to take my son golfing to try a new course and we were judged by the way we dressed first. Then we were just a couple minutes late with no one behind us and they complained. Then we share a golf set which using a cart should be no big deal and we play fast anyways. They sent us to the crappy nine to play. Was very very displeased with the course “ranger” and how he talked to us. Very rude and expected to be treated a lot better for the money we paid. We definitely won’t be back at this course and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone
Hidden gem
Absolutely worth a long drive to play from Chicago.
Otter Creek. Still one of Indiana’s best
With the harsh summer, I was worried that it would be burnt up, but it was in great shape. It rained HARD the day before, so we were cart path only, so we definitely got our steps in.
Greens were slower than normal, but that is welcome with the undulation that you find here. Fairways and tees were in great shape. Bunkers, at least the ones not submerged, were good as well. Got a great Hot Deal rate of $40, so it was a no-brainer to go.
Play Otter Creek. You won’t be disappointed.
East Course not up to Otter Creek standards
We took advantage of the Golf Pass special. $22 for 9 holes. Seeing this was not on the weekend, $44 bucks is nice, but not THAT great of a deal, especially with the condition of the course. Very little sand in the sand traps. Grounds crew turned the sprinklers on the fairway on #8, while we were ready to hit our 2nd shot (par 5). The saw us on the tee box a few minutes before that. We drove up to an area around the green and dropped in order to finish the hole. 2 guys were sitting in a cart off the green. "I guess we weren't supposed to play the fairway on our second shot." He said "I guess that was my fault". I didn't want to say anymore in fear of losing my cool.
Pristine but slow
We teed off around 1:30 on a Friday. Course didn’t seem too busy at the time. Pace of play was extremely slow. Saw course ranger one time on hole 7. They should have had a starter on the first tee to ensure adherence to tee times & a ranger on the course keeping groups aware of their pace of play.
Tees, fairways, greens, perimeter rough was in excellent condition. Despite dry weather for weeks, fairways & tees were a bit soft. Course is tight in areas, but overall layout is average IMO. Greens rolled well and are a good test due to undulations.
One of my favorites
Was driving to Indiana from Florida, and arranged my travel so I could stop and play Otter Creek. One of my favorite courses in the country. It was in very good shape, perfect day, and relaxed pace - just as I hoped. Before I head back South, I will visit it again!!!!
