About
Old Oak Country Club is situated only 20 minutes from Chicago, but the beautifully wooded terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickory trees, makes it feel as though it's much further away. Originally opened in 1926, the golf course is one of the area's oldest and even one of the oldest in the state. It has undergone many renovations over the years but it still retains its classic character. The layout offers plenty of variety with drivable par 4s and lengthy par 5s. The rolling topography provides many of the golf course's challenges, from the rolling fairways and undulating greens to the elevated tees and blind shots. Mature trees tower over the fairways, adding another tricky element to the golf course. Old Oak Country Club is challenging but fair and still quite playable, which is why it has long been a local favorite.

Ridiculous pace
Pace of play was atrocious, I’ll probably never come back. We played the first 9, and it took 3 hours, then we left. They booked us right behind a 61+ league.
Challenging course but slow
Played twilight on Sun, which was a great value. Much nicer than expected, great conditions, beautiful layout. Not long by any means but very challenging with well guarded greenside bunkers, difficult undulations, and strategic pin locations on most holes. Back nine started to back up and eventually piled up with 3 groups waiting to tee off on the 17th. I don’t remember seeing one marshall on the course, they need to do a better job regulating. Otherwise, overall impressed with the course
Need ranger on course for pace of play
There was a two hole gap between the foursome in front of us which made the round almost 5 hours. There were some young guy horsing around hitting multiple balls on every hole. A ranger would have solved these issues.
Course is gorgeous, except, does anyone repair their ball marks in the greens anymore?
No water
I'm sick of courses not putting out drinking water. 80-90 degrees out and bs excuses.. Since COVID we stopped putting water out. That was 4 years ago!
Coarse closed due to weather
I booked a tee time but the coarse was closed for the day due to weather. I was not allowed to cancel my tee time and got charged for two.
Staff unfriendly
Do not recommend going here. The starter tried to claim I didn’t pay for my tee time and needed the receipt. Very unfriendly and unprofessional people that are working here. It’s embarrassing how someone could hate their job so much and make the youth golfers not want to golf after interacting with the ataff
Better choices
I was expecting a much better experience. Played the front nine. Must have beginner golfers play here. Fairways had numerous divots and the 7th and 8th hole had gouges in the green. Also the rangers were continuously harassing us in an unprofessional manner to pick up the pace even though we’re well ahead of the foursome behind us. Would choose another course next time
Ols Oak: Good Except for One Thing
I had not been to Old Oak for at least 10 years. I was happy to see that it was in very good shape from tee to green, including the greens. Play started at 10. I found the front 9 to much more interesting than the back 9,some really nice holes. The one thing that was really bad however were the greenside bunkers. Hard as a rock, with almost no sand to get under the ball. No exaggeration, really spoiled an otherwise very good experience.
