Fun Course to Play
Chick has been one of my favorites and it's a great track to get in a quick round. Can't wait to come back.
Too Wet!
The course was almost too wet to play. Super slow round. Waited on every hole. Despite all the water the greens were in surprising good shape and putted true. Course where not under water was a beautiful green. Clubhouse does not have too many amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Thank you for the review. We did have a lot of rain in June but our course has dried out, come play!
Slow pace
Tee time was at 10:45, didn't get off until 11:30. Don't know why they even have tee times there. Narrow course with greens and tee boxes close to each other. Always hearing people talking/screaming. Bike path is next to a few holes and they were constantly screaming while I was trying to hit. Extremely slow pace of play. Really not a great experience

Quick 9 with my 13 year old son
I booked the tee time on their user friendly website the night before... we tee'd off at 6:52am and had a great time... play was fast, staff super helpful and friendly!! Definitely playing here again soon!
Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your round. Hope to see you again soon!
Play at own risk
I went out early to avoid the heat and I was very disappointed with pace of play. No starter to begin with and the front nine took 2 hours with 2 golfers, not upset considering there were large groups ahead. At the turn, multiple groups jumped ahead and played the back nine. 6:30 start and ended at 11am. 3.5 hours to play the back 9. I’m sorry but that’s just stupid. I will not be going back ever.

The bad, the bad and the ugly
This was an awful experience and I will never play this course again. I know it’s cheap but trust me, spend the extra $20-$40 for a nicer course. Cheap courses bring out the bad golfers, pretty sure the group in front of us topped at least 1 tee shot on each tee. I would know since we we’re forced to watch them all in waiting.
Other:
-No carts upon arrival
-There was 2 groups on every tee (us and the group teeing off) pretty much every hole
-Pace of play was 5 hours and 15m min (on a 5,800 yard course)
-Hot dogs were average at best (this is me being picky but I love me a good dog during a round)
-Course itself was in awful shape, all the gress was dead and there was a large portion of just dried dirt areas
Honestly, I wish I read the reviews before playing here. I wouldn’t have done it.
Great for Mediocre Golfers Living In and Around Chicago
- Not overly expensive.
- Not overly difficult; however, there are challenging holes.
- Greens were being aerated when we played, which was annoying to play on.
- No ranger to tell the slow group ahead of us to pick up the pace of play, but still played 18 in 4.5 hours.
Great staff
There are always nice and kind staff welcome you.
Always fun to golf there, thanks Ray and Art!!
Painful 5 Hour Round
Decided to try Chick Evans golf course while visiting Chicago. Arrived at 11:45 AM for a 12:22 PM tee time. They had no available golf carts, and the line of people standing and waiting to tee off was long. The starter maintained carts too, so staff presence was sparse. Carts became available as players ended their rounds. We eventually teed off at 12:50 PM. Play was painfully slow. Never saw a ranger to help play along. We finished at 5:30 PM. Never again.
Would only go back if on a budget
VERY CROWDED. Holes were incredibly short. Zero bunkers. Lots of ruined fairways from flood. Only positives were that it was cheap, and the people I met were all friendly. Would only go back if on a budget with no other options, though.
Pretty rough shape
I've been playing at Chick for more than 10 years and it's always hit or miss. This time it was a miss. We went out at 6am so pace was good, but the course is in terrible shape. Greens are okay but tees are shot and there are many grass less sections. It's like they kind of let it go other than the greens. The course could be really good if they would pump some money into it. I guess you get what you pay for, but I would gladly pay more to play a nicer course.
Thanks for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your experience with us and we hope to see you back again soon!
