Fun course
Conditions are a little rough this time of year but not as Bad as I thought they would be. It's a fun course and even though it short it does not play short.
Good day on the course
Short but need to keep them straight! Staff does a great job, and the course is well maintained for the amount of play. Although the course was crowded it played at a reasonable pace of 4 and 1/2 hours.
Great little course for the money.
Staff is great. They continually create promotions to get more golfers on the golf course. This creates great deals for the golfers. My only suggestion would be to install the woman's 18th tee box on the other side of the creek. My wife loves the course, but when we get to 18, it spoils the experience for her. The women's tee box on 18 looks like an afterthought
Morning storms lead to wet, but lightning fast round.
The thunderstorms in the hours before my tee time made me nervous about a cancellation, but the course remained open, and it was WIDE open. There was a twosome ahead of us that we lost after the 3rd hole, and a huge group behind us that our 3-some lost after the 2nd hole. So we essentially had the place to ourselves and we absolutely flew through this beautiful woodland course, shooting over a river multiple times with well-designed, different holes following every tee-box.
Beverage cart girl was very nice and we saw her 3 or 4 times during the round.
The course was surprisingly dry after intense thunderstorms made the course very wet in the hour right before our tee time, but after the first 5 or so holes, it wasn't an issue anymore. Saw a family of deer on the 8th hole.
Will absolutely 100% play again many times. Loved it.
Wouldn't recommend
The course is so compact, balls were flying everywhere. I nearly got hit countless times. The pace was horrible, we waited 10mins at every hole. Took us 3 hrs to golf 9 holes. If you go just don't go during prime times. It's not very organized and they need a golf sheriff to light some fire under the butts of these slow golfers.
Not bad for what you pay
Fun, relatively short course that is in good shape. Affordable, even on the weekends. We play here 2-4 times per year. Some really easy holes and some pretty challenging ones. It's a fun course to play a few times a year. Just get out early.
Chick Evans
Slow pace, tee boxes in poor condition, greens excellent.
Greens are much improved!
Based on past experiences at this course, I noticed the greens have received a lot of attention and are in much better shape than I remember from past years.
Slowest round of my life
Early morning Sunday tee time was delayed to tee off and it took 50 minutes to get through two holes. Will never return despite having enjoyed this course multiple times prior.
Good times
A "fun" course to play. Short course....however some "not so easy" holes. Good greens. Short course feels like you are playing a "shoot out". Fun playing 300 yard par fours. Feel like a pro if you hit a good drive. 75 yards to the green. pace of play was 4 hours..
I would not play this course all the time.....however it is fun to play 2-3 times a season.
Just below avg
No matter what time you play there (unless your 1st tee time) it's so slow. Took me and my buddy 2 1/2 hrs to play the front and I left. The starter informed us that a twosome was holding everyone up. I love golf, but if I tee off at 8 am on a Wednesday and my round is projected to be 5hrs I'd rather stay in bed
Good value
Course was in fine condition, though weather was very windy that day. Chick Evans plays a bit short but it has a couple challenging holes. Overall a good value for your golfing dollar, especially if you hold a Forest Preserve Golf Card. Booking through GolfNow was seamless - thx.
Great course
This is an awesome course. I've played it at least 5x and I wil be back. The only thing this place needs is a driving range.
Great bang for buck
I've golfed this course more than I care to admit. The layout is nice with a few challenging holes (3 will be more than you bargain for if you're not dialed in with your driver). Because of the cost, proximity and availability, I consider this one of the best short par 4 courses in the Chicagoland area. The friendliness of the staff keeps me coming back. Side note: They rent new golf boards (think of a motorized surfboard with wheels). Best time to go on weekends is certainly first thing in the morning as this place packs up quick.
Poor conditions
It may be early in the season and it may have rained the night before. However, based on the poor course conditions the golf now price was no bargain. Paid for 18 holes with a cart but when my group showed up only the back nine was open and no carts. Tried to replay the back nine but by then there was a backup. It would have been nice to be alerted when the online reservations were made two hours prior to tee times.
Friendly and comfortable course!
I am happy to shoot under 100. This course is pretty forgiving in spots. No bunkers to contend with (maybe one on 10). Tough hole on 18 with a long par 3. Great course to take your Dad to. I did. We had a such a good time I came back with a friend and improved my score by 5 strokes. Go, have fun here!
Not worth the money
For the price of the course it is not worth the money. I paid right around 45$ for probably the slowest round of golf I have ever played. The course was in poor condition besides the greens and not well maintained. Needless to say I will not be going back.
Very Short Forest Preserve Golf
My friend and I played here twice this year.
In early April, we decided to try this course out because it was a halfway point. We ended up only playing 17 of 18 holes due to flooding on Hole #3 (so be sure to call in advance to avoid what we ran into). Despite the good pace, I vowed to never play this course again because it was too short (5,600 yards) and I felt that $40+ was way too much.
Four months later, my friend and I had a change of heart and decided to return for our second round. After playing the course again, I can say that I don't quite feel the same way. While the pace of play was a little slow for my liking, we still managed to finish in 4 hours (probably because it's so short). If you live close by and are looking for something easy, I would recommend Chick Evans. I wouldn't shell out more than $35, though.
Perfect Day
Weather was perfect so that usually influences me on total evaluation! Lush trees and beautiful paths through forestry made for delightful transition between holes. Bambi's appearance on one hole was an added attraction.
Thank you for your feedback, we understand that pace is important to your round and are currently working on a pace of play program to speed things up on the course. We look forward to implementing this program so we can offer each guest an even better golfing experience.
