Cheap and decent
Nothing special here, and the course could be a little better maintained, but overall its a decent course for the price. Not a favorite but a worthwhile time.
Forest preserve golf
The staff was friendly when you actually interacted with them. The course leaves nothing to be desired... Then again it is a great preserve course. Expect sandy greens, hard dried out fairways, and tee breaking rock hard tee boxes. Still playable and for $29.99 it makes sense.
quick an easy
Alright price and no hassle at course. quick and easy
A Hackers Paradise
For such a nice setting, this course is terrible. The fairways (when you can differentiate them from the rough) are hacked up, the greens are drying out and chewed up (maybe beyond repair??), and the rough is cut so if you hit into it you can pretty much forget about that ball and move on.
The pace of play here is awful. For a slope of 107 there is just no excuse for a 4 1/2 hour round, unbelievable!
I would not recommend this course to anyone that takes the game seriously...it's too depressing to see a course in this condition...not to mention; it takes away from your game.
The Staff is amazing
Great friendly staff and was very accomodating with my experience. The course wasn't in great shape. the greens were horrible. ( I know you are maintenance on them). Too many weeds and the fringes weren't cut properly. The price was right so I wasn't complaining too much.
Course was in bad shape
The course was full of mud. The grass was way to long. I couldn't tell if I was on the fairway or in the rough. And on top of everything they just airated and didn't post it on the golfnow site. All and all I was very disappointed.
Should be called Chick Weed, not Evans--insult to Chick
Chick Evans is the course I learned golf on. (That's why my sand play is so poor as they have very few sand traps). The price of $40 that I paid was way too high for the condition of the course. Within the last month, I played Highland Woods which is another park district course and paid $40. It was like playing Kemper when compared to Chick Evans. Officially Chick Evans is forever known as Chick Weed.
