Stay away very poor maintenance
They don’t cut fairways, a complete joke!!! Waste of money stay away!!!! Much better places. Terrible place.
STAY AWAY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
Terrible golf course. Fairways not even cut, pure robbery!!!! How dare they charge for this horrific experience. Bad people! Bad course! Stay away at all cost!!!!
Great Value for a Solid Course
Overall this is a solid course with very reasonable prices. The course conditions were really good. Despite how the grass has dried out in the last month from the heat, the fairways, greens, and tee boxes were soft and in good shape. Even the rough was in good shape. I only dealt with the staff when checking in, but standard and nothing negative to note about. That said, no bar cart, but there is a halfway house that is situated around the halfway mark on the front and back 9. The course is design where you meet the same house twice. The only negative is after you meet it the first time, it will be a while until you see it again and the clubhouse isn't design to get a quick drink or bathroom break like the halfway house. Otherwise, you can't beat this course for the conditions to it's reasonable price with cart.
Back after 40 years
A group of us used to make the trip from the north side of Chicago to play Countryside. To say it is different is true but it still retains its challenges. In great shape and a nice pace of play. The staff was wonderful and EVERYONE had a mask. Fantastic value...will be back.
Nice Course
Nice course. Well maintained. Challenging but forgiving.
Cart fee high.
Good Shape, Fun round
Nice track, not terribly long, but the greens protect the course from scoring barrages. Small and plenty of contours, Fun layout and the trees are your friend on a hot summer day!
DO NOT BE ABOVE THE HOLE.
I’ll be back
Good basic course
The holes are not terribly interesting, but the course still requires good ball striking in order to score. Conditions are OK.
Great Starter - Judy
I play 70-80 different courses yearly and what separates one from the other quite often is the customer service aspect. High marks to Judy on her welcoming smile and attention to detail to get us started. She followed up later on the 15th hole. Nice job Judy.
Good Value and Nice Conditions
We played the Traditional course mid-morning during the week. Crowds were sparse so pace of play was great.
Most holes you can spray the driver a little bit with space to recover. There are a few shorter par 4's that demand accuracy off the tee.
There are a few straight holes without a lot of character. Some elevation changes keep things interesting, especially on the back. The balance of holes on the front and back is somewhat unique (37-35 with 3 par 5's on the front, including two back-to-back). Nice collection of par 3's.
I was impressed with the overall conditions of the course. Greens were firm and rolled true. Rough wasn't very thick so not terribly penal. 18 appeared to be undergoing some bunker renovations.
Favorite Hole: 15 - short par 3 with trouble long and two pot bunkers guarding the front of the green.
I definitely recommend this course. It's a good value compared to some tracks around the Chicagoland area. I would play here more often if I lived closer.
I will be back!
I enjoyed this course very much. The fairways and greens were in great condition for late September. When I arrived at the course as a single I was asked to pair up and ride along with another group, I didn't care for this but understandable.
Our 4-some was stuck behind a group of 4 walkers, they did not ask us to play through and no Ranger/Marshall was seen to speed things up.
With all that said, the value for the money is excellent. The course isn't too challenging, there are several greens with extreme tilts that makes approach shot placement key! Its a shorter course, I only hit driver on par 5's. I will definitely be back!
Good golf,excellent value
I always have a good time at this course. It is a decent challenge for the intermediate golfer. The course is in good shape. The greens were relatively slow. The course employees were very friendly.
Countryside Golf Club - Traditional
The Good: Moderately interesting parkland layout was the first course built at the Countryside Forest Preserved managed facility. Good mixture of longer and risk-reward Par 4's and some interesting Par 5's. A little more elevation change than your typical Chicago suburban course. Nice, small greens with minor undulation. Above average driving range and fair putting green. While no GPS, there are plenty of yardage markers throughout the course. Decent value at just over $50 for weekend peak season.
The Bad: Fairway conditions are only fair. Rough is inconsistent in many areas. The Par 3's are fairly unmemorable. Clubhouse and dining area are to be desired. Limited on-course amenities and mediocre service at best. Lack of short game and bunker area. No GPS is a bummer.
The Verdict: The Traditional course is quirky enough to be fun for all golfers. There are better, more complete facilities for the money in Lake county.
Best Hole: The long, dogleg right Par 5 5th is 600 yards and requires three great shots to have a shot at birdie.
Scenery on course is excellent.
Have golfed there dozens of time, however, it was extremely hot and humid. The course was wet from rain the night before and it was cart path only, which made it very difficult.
Traditional Course - Good Greens - Good Course
This course won't make you wish you'd brought your camera. But, its a nice, challenging course with a number of interesting holes. It's not a course where you stand on a tee box and say WOW! Everything is pretty straight-forward and what you see is what you get. The greens & fairways are in very good shape. Very nice practice areas.
