Quality course
Tee boxes pretty chewed up. Didn’t see the cart girl until I was coming off the course at 11:30 on a 80 plus degree day. Other than that, challenging course in good condition.
Steeplechase 18
I hadn't played Steeplechase in many years, though I enjoyed previously. While looking to play a Monday round when my regular course is closed, it gave me a good test of where my game is at. The course was in really good shape, the greens were consistent and the holes offered variety. The pace was a bit slow on the front 9, with one group of 3 not understanding keeping up. But, after playing through at a par 3, it got better. The staff service was good.
Great course
Greens are challenging and require soft hands. Great layout and conditions. Definitely a course to keep in rotation if you’re looking to improve your game.
Great course feels like a private club
Course was in great condition. Staff is super friendly. Felt like I was playing a country club.
Fix your greens
Trying to be fair but , I've been playing golf for 50 years and have never seen greens in illinois where the poa is as bad. Played last in August and thought it was an issue and it is even worse now which is shame
Course layout great, staff great and the rest of the course was very good. Cart path only and we still played in 3:50
Going to give them one more try in July and see if there is any improvement. If not , won't be coming back.
I brought 2 guys who neve played here and the first thing they said - what's with these greens
Standing water in every bunker
Bunkers were absolute lakes, we had some rain before but geez water eroded all the sides of bunkers, pipes were sticking out and most if not all bunkers full of puddles
Early Season
Fun. Greens are too fast for not being true. But it’s early season and they got 2 inches of rain the day before. It was fine for early season. Staff was great. “Enjoy the Walk”.
Great Layout, Greens Brutally Fast
Love the layout of this course and the October rate of $53 was good. Most greens here are very sloped and they were too fast for the types of greens. As an example, had 8 foot birdie putt on #1, hole high. Putted where ball was barely rolling at at just past the high side of the cup and ended up 2o feet below the hole. In all, our group took 13 putts on this hole. Many of them were like that, with pin positions obviously not well thought out.
Good course
No range just a net. Some holes are tricked up with fairways tilted to water where you can hit a good shot and still be penalized by the slope. A little overpriced in my opinion
I remember I played a course down the street that week and had similar conditions. What do you expect from an early April round in Chicago area that just received 7 inches of rain that week? Pretty unreasonable opinion and review IMO.
