Great Layout, Greens Brutally Fast
Love the layout of this course and the October rate of $53 was good. Most greens here are very sloped and they were too fast for the types of greens. As an example, had 8 foot birdie putt on #1, hole high. Putted where ball was barely rolling at at just past the high side of the cup and ended up 2o feet below the hole. In all, our group took 13 putts on this hole. Many of them were like that, with pin positions obviously not well thought out.
Good course
No range just a net. Some holes are tricked up with fairways tilted to water where you can hit a good shot and still be penalized by the slope. A little overpriced in my opinion
Good course
no range. Tighter fairways with a couple of holes you could be rewarded with trouble even though you hit a good shot (slanted fairways). Pace of play was longer with no ranger speeding things up. Some greens looked like an evasive grass had taken over.
Lots of character"
Great course conditions. Moderate elevation changes, multiple sets of tees for different skill levels. FAST greens. Stay below the hole on approach shots. Nice track.
Great late summer conditions!
The course was in fantastic shape! Tee boxes and greens were well-maintained and the piece of play was fast. Tee time was 7:20, so beverage cart did not come out until the back 9, and still stopped by twice. Green fees (with cart) was $80 for weekend morning - so it’s a great value.
Very Slow Pace Of Play
Our tee time was 12:10 PM. We teed off on time. On the fourth hole, the GPS system indicated we were six minutes behind pace, but we were already waiting for the group ahead of us to leave that green. At the end of nine holes, the GPS system indicated we were twelve minutes behind pace. We waited on 10 tee for almost twenty minutes before we could tee off. On 12 tee, the GPS system indicated we were nineteen minutes behind pace. But we were waiting for the group in front of us on every shot. When we got to 16, there were already two foursomes waiting to play. We completed hole 16 four hours and thirty five minutes after we teed off. We decided to not play the remaing two holes, rather than endure a round of more than five hours. After putting our clubs into our car, we checked with the Pro Shop and were told that the course does not use rangers and the expected pace of play on weekends is 4 hours and fifty minutes. There was no indication of that on the course website, we were not told that when we paid our green fee, and the Starter did not mention that either. There were uncovered drains in some of the bunkers and the sand in many bunkers needs to be replaced. The tines on many of the bunker rakes were broken.
Steeple Chase Solid Course
Course was in great shape. Despite very little rain, greens were receptive and rolled at a nice pace (often they are very fast above the hole but not today). Pace of play was good at 4 hrs 5 min starting at 8:40. Definitely recommend if you have not been there in a while.
