FORE!!!
Everything is wildly average about this course except for the number of times you hear “fore” during our round. The spacing between holes is terrible and there are clusters of greens and tee boxes throughout the course where you have no idea who’s on what hole. Nothing stands out throughout the 18. It’s really just an average track that takes 4.5+ hours to play. Won’t be retuning. I’d rather play an extra $5-15 for around with better pacing and layout.
Have fun in Mundelein!
A great bargain for a decent course. I’ll be back for sure.
Great morning round
I used to golf here a lot about 10-15 years ago. At the time, the conditions of the course were starting to go downhill. This was my first time back since then, and I was very impressed with the condition of the course. The fairways were very well-maintained, and the greens ran very smooth. Would definitely come back again.
Great staff and Great experience
I’ve golfed here twice in the past 2 weeks and although it’s been cold and windy both days, the course is in pretty good shape. The greens are interesting as they roll a good amount downhill but uphill is really slow. Pete and staff always are in good moods and make the experience even better. I look forward to coming back
Quick Cheap and Easy
Played on a Thursday afternoon at 2:15. Walked 18 and got done in 3 hours. Course was nice, not hard and was short. Enjoyed it. Clubhouse was meh, nothing to write home about.
Amazing course
I love me some good old VG, especially when you can play a fast round with 11 of your friends (3.5 hours) and still make it home to see the Bears play. We had a great round, other than a couple of people that were behind us and became irritating by the end. Judging by their swings and the lack of distance they were generating, I’m guessing they were first timers, high, or both. We offered to let them play through (several times) since the sound of them yelling fore multiple times per hole was distracting to say the least. Each time they just muttered something that ended with “bro” and seemed quite high. So we kept playing and finished our round. As we are walking off the 18th green one of them smashes their drive (for them) about 190 yards, rolls up in the cart and starts literally flexing and shouting “how do like them apples?”. We just went on our way, but it was an odd experience for an otherwise perfect day of golf.
You're going to be tempted by the price. Don't give in.
Lots of people are tempted to play for the price. You definitely get what you pay for here. There is no starter and no marshal, so it's a free-for-all off the first tee and pace of play is horrid. There might be one person checking people in, but they're also working the food service. They let people get heinously drunk and rowdy here, and keep serving them at the bar after the round. There's no marshal to reign in disruptive groups, including when multiple foursomes decide to clump up together and hold up everyone behind them. Calling the clubhouse is useless.
I've played this course a lot but after my last experience I'm not going back. Some "regulars" decided to turn the course into their personal party, and a group of 12 was drinking hard, leaving their empties all over the tee boxes and the course, blasting music, driving carts recklessly, and then threatening people who tried to get them to move along. It got so bad the police had to get involved.
Just another weekend at Village Green.
Vill Grn
Several holes with ground under repair and groundskeeper with tractors in the middle of fairway on first hole.
Needed a change
Decided to play here vs more west and was pleasantly surprised. Tee boxes were some what rough but not horrible. Greens were pretty good but fast.
Didn't go to clubhouse but to check in and seemed small. Carts were good. No GPS no plug in USB ports.
Would play here again.
