About
Foss Park Golf Course has a convenient location in North Chicago that is an easy drive in from the city. It's a public course that is known amongst locals for being one of the area's best golf values. The layout is wide-open save for three holes that are framed by towering mature trees. The golf course strikes a good balance between being challenging and playable. The fairways are narrow and demand accuracy but the massive greens are more forgiving. Each hole offers a variety of different playing options, which makes the course appealing to a wide range of skill levels. The golf course has plenty of sand, plus water hazards come into play on several holes. There is also a driving range and large practice putting green available at Foss Park G.C.

Very valuable place
Have a lot of fun to play golf here, I will try it again
Dandy course
Has a few very tight challenging holes, a few long playing holes and a few that are pretty easy
Well rounded course
First tee always seems crowded but the pace levels out pretty quickly

Second time playing this golf course this year. Over all a nice course. The only issue that I experience was after the 3rd and 17th hole. Course management should really post signage with arrows stating which direction is the next hole. I got lost trying to locate the 4th tee. I usually play off on the longest tee’s which are the Blue tee, except that only have White, Black, and Yellow.

Great course for your spirits!
I loved playing this course bc it’s very open! If you’re looking to work on a few things without getting penalized, this is the course for you. Open fairways and big greens, what’s not to like.

Lay out is nice
This golf course has never changed . It’s always been spongy on the tees , hard as rock fairways and even more harder ground in the “rough” areas . Greens are flat , hard to “get” the roll ( slow) and no undulation at all,,,, some of them looked like Camouflage . Traps are to be expected for a golf course of this nature . The layout is decent enough though . Personally I can’t justify the $48 mid day price on GolfNow and the $$ deposit needed for the golf cart key , when you got MidLane , Bonnie Brook , Veterans Memorial around the same area for around the same price.

This course needs signage
This course is badly in need of signage in a few critical places so you can find the next hole. After the 3rd hole, there is no sign or anything about how to get to the 4th tee, which is quite far away in an unexpected direction. If you go to what seems like the next reasonable tee, you wind up on the 14th hole. Also, after the 16th hole, again no signage, even though the 17th tee is a long curving route away. They badly need some signage here so golfers new to the course can find their way around!

Friendly staff
Starter and shop guys were friendly. Pace of play was decent. Had some people walking and I was playing by myself so that’s understandable. Great course for the price.

Need more carts
The lack of carts at the course was a bit inconvenient. The pro shop had one person checking everyone in and was very busy. The course itself was good. Pace of play was very slow but it was a weekend so that’s to be expected.

Fun little course in North Chicago
The course was in very good condition and the pace of play was good as well. This is not the fanciest course on the Northshore, but it is one of the best values and most fun to play.

Pace of play ruined my experience
Nice course and was maintained pretty well. Very friendly staff. They need to have someone out there making sure other golfers are playing at a good pace. Only got to enjoy 9 holes because pace was so slow. Asked to skip a couple groups even. Wish I could’ve seen the back 9 but it was 7 by the time I got to it and my tee time was 3:54.

Open layout, but sloooow play
Tees and fairway were in good shape, but some greens had lots of ball marks. Starter was able to get groups off on time, but no ranger on the course caused groups to get bunched up behind slow playing groups.
