Course is usually good but weather has made it average which is good for this time of year.
Needs some attention
Tee boxes are patchy crab grass and the fairways leave a lot to be desired. It's hard to find a good lie, playing them up! Good layout, decent bunkers and greens. If it wasn't 13 dollars, I would have been disappointed.
Shambolee
Great course. Sweat bees were annoying but everything else was great!
Shambolee GC
GC was in fairly good condition on the whole. Greens were in very good shape considering our recent hot weather. Some fairways had bare spots. Overall it was a fun day playing golf on Shambolee!
Play anywhere else
I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone who takes the game serious. I would make the drive to the Springfield area in a heartbeat and play at any other course. I took my father, uncle, and brother out to celebrate Father’s Day and the course conditions are terrible. It looks the same it did 3 years ago when we played and they have clearly not put any money into the actual course for updates and the proper maintenance. The staff was friendly but they do not honor your tee time. We had a tee time and showed up 30 minutes early in hopes to hit the practice putting green (non existent and has WEEDS growing out of the cups and the turf was completely pulled out of the ground and roll up in certain areas) in addition to this , they allowed a group of 4 elderly folks to jump ahead of our scheduled tee time causing us to tee off 10 minutes late and then had a foursome behind us that rode our butt the entire day due to the log jam the staff allowed to happen. If you decide to take a gamble and play here, make sure you buy HIGH visibility golf balls as the fairway has a massive weed problem all around the course causing you to loose you ball even when you hit it straight down the fairway. The greens are in bad shape on almost every hole and cart paths are pretty much non existent and you have to bust out the map to find your way to the next hole. At least put signs out to point people in the right direction who aren’t tech savvy and don’t have the Arcoss app on their phone’s. Save your money and don’t waste it here! There are so many other courses to choose from. You couldn’t pay me to play here again.
Shambolee
The course was in good shape; however the ladies tee boxes are in need of attention. Many have little grass between the red tee blocks….lots of hard dirt though and the grass that was there were in clumps. When leaving the tee box on 17, the concrete cart path as you drive down hill, is completely broken through with nothing but void below (like a sink hole). If we had driven over it at average speed, I’m almost certain we would have damaged the cart and possibly been thrown from the cart. Luckily, we saw the sink hole in advance and was able to navigate around it. There were no cones, caution signs, or warning tape blocking off this part of the cart path.
Other than that, we enjoyed the course as it wasn’t busy and the pace of play was comfortable.
