Oak Springs Golf Course
About
Oak Springs Golf Club is tucked away amid the rolling hills and wooded plains of St. Anne. Though it feels peacefully secluded, it's conveniently situated less than an hour from Chicago. As one of the premiere golf courses in Kankakee County, it has a layout that appeals to players of all skill levels and it's also one of the most affordable rounds in the area. There are some challenging holes but the rough is very forgiving in case hitting it straight isn't one of your strengths. The front nine features fairways lined with mature trees and there are some tough par 3s to contend with. The more player-friendly back nine at Oak Springs Golf Club is wide open and offers some great scoring opportunities. There are subtle but tricky undulations throughout and you'll also run into water occasionally.

Will not be returning
Oak springs has always been our favorite course to play at. We have been playing there for 4 years in a row now on Father’s Day morning. After playing there this year we will not be returning. 5 out of 6 guys got there 20 minutes before tee time so we had time to get ready and warm up. Now we booked a group of two and four guys with a tee time in between so we had no expectations of golfing together, we understand that’s how it works with more than 4 guys .The owner tried to push us into starting 10 minutes early( last guy had just pulled up at this point) we told him we weren’t ready and that our tee time wasn’t for another 10 minutes. He then told us he was gonna send a group through then but we better be ready to go right after, still before our tee time. But we had 2 guys go ahead and tee off anyways. The owner added another guy with them so they had a group of 3 now. The 4 of us got ready and went up to tee right behind them since he pushed the group in between us ahead of all of us. We then got harassed , followed and watched for the first 9 holes , constantly being told we needed to hurry up and golf faster, while Everytime we went up to tee off the group ahead of us was still putting so we couldn’t really golf any faster. Then after the first 9 we went in to go to the bathroom , grab a hot dog and drink and we’re gonna continue on to the back 9. The owner followed us in while we waited to order and get drinks and food, mean mugging the whole time. Then as we walk out he follows us harassing us more saying we need to start moving faster and that we didn’t golf the first 9 in the proper time ( 2 hrs for 9 holes ) we did it in 2 hrs and 5 minutes due to waiting to tee off a couple times. So we get into a debate with him telling him to back off and let us golf. So we got watched teeing off at the first hole in the back 9 but then weren’t bothered for the rest of the morning. We golfed back 9 in 1 hr 40 minutes since we didn’t have to wait at all. After the game we approached the owner respectfully and calmly saying we weren’t tryin to golf slow that it was over booked and packed ( which everybody expects at Father’s Day) then proceeds to get attitude with us right off the bat saying that we weren’t playing fast enough and that it wasn’t over booked but that we were 3 holes behind and backing up the whole course, now like I said we we’re teeing off while guys were on the green putting on the same hole for every hole so not sure how we could be 3
Holes behind. Told him again we didn’t appreciate the harassment and that we love the course but prolly won’t come back and he had not a care in the world. Said he would rather have 8 guys not come back then to upset 150 other golfers. We talked to guys behind us and few other golfers and they had no problem with the wait due to being Father’s Day. We also knew a couple other groups throughout the day that were golfing there and they said they were having the same issue. Owner was driving around harassing people to golf faster. So he caused more than 8 guys to not come back . Very disappointed with the owner and the professional manner he lacked with his guests. It’s a shame we won’t be returning because we really enjoy the course and rest of the staff but after this experience the owner has caused us to go somewhere else now. We will be telling everybody we know that golf’s about our experience and persuading them to take their business elsewhere as well.
Great deal on golf now, poor management of groupings
Got a great midday & midweek deal on Golf Now. Was ready to tee off as a single but was made to wait for a foursome, followed by a three some, followed by a two some, followed by a four some before I was allowed to go off. Ended up skipping two holes on the back and finished the back 7 in 35 minutes.
Pace of play sucks.
Pace of play is the worst here. People will not let you play around and feel entitled to take all the time in the world. No pro to keep pace. Owners do a good job. Other employees think they know golf and don’t know the first thing about it. I will still play the course. But I can’t wait to give money other places when they act like that.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Oak Springs Golf Course, and we hope to see you again in the future.
🍻 cheers 🍻
The course where everybody knows your name, and everybody's glad you came, you want to golf where people can see your troubles are all the same? Then this is your course nice clean white sand traps, one or two greens had a few funky patches but all in all for the price, its like your kids you can't beat it.
Slow play on a great day
The course is a great place to play for a fast round on a early Wednesday. Unfortunately,, every body and their Mothers were playing this day
After three hours and ten minutes for 11 holes, the back could not handle the pace of the day.!
Has no bearing on the course nor the staff, they are great and had been for over the ten years we play there.
Tough to play when the back is hurting. I’m
Maintenance is good
That time is rainy on and off . But course conditions are okay.
We have a very fun.
Enjoyable golf at its best
I play here several times a week. While they are currently experiencing a water pump problem, they are allowing the fairways and rough to grow a little more than normal. They have a new superintendent so we'll give him some time to right the ship.
The course is always maintained very nice, from rough to fairways to bunkers aro greens. Greens are better than average smooth and quick.
I play here mostly now because off the terrain which is fairly flat. The course does have a few greens which rise but nothing extreme. I have two knee replacements now, the latest coming 18 weeks ago on my left knee. This course is easy for.me to manage even though I ride as much as possible.
Regardless of my scores, ranging from 78-84, I always enjoy the 3 hours or so it takes to get a round in. I have played alone in 2 hrs 5 minutes.
If you don't want to be tortured by a tough layout with quirky holes and just want to enjoy yourself then "Oakmont" as I like to call it, is the place to play.
Staff is extremely welcoming and accommodating and the restaurant/bar area is the best around with a fairly diverse menu.
If you go, tell them "Tall Paul" recommended it.
Friendliest people and staff
The staff are amazing and the patrons aren’t uppity. We had a great time.
