Winnetka Golf Club

Almost the end of season, but the course is better than I expected. A lot of people playing, but pace was not too bad. Close to home so as long as I find good deal, I will play more in the future.

Course has a lot of water laying around on all holes - apparently the north shore has had a lot of rain/flooding issues this year. It made playing somewhat more difficult but still a very nice course. The holes are very long for women & the slope rating of 131 is very high due to this. I believe that the course should consider a recertification for women & make the course fairer. Still enjoyed the course & would come back again.

What a terrible experience I had at this place. The main thing for this bad review is that there was STANDING WATER all over the course and they kept it open. No way should this course have been open. Because there was no carts allowed it was like swimming laps instead of walking the course. When bringing up the water on the course, I was greeted with a chuckle and a shoulder shrug, like "that's golf". The other issue was as my group got to the first tee box for our scheduled tee time, the starter allowed a group of four to jump my group of two. When asked why, I was told "they are season pass holders so they can play over your tee time" I was floored. What good is a reservation if its not honored. This group was slow and at times would sit on a tee box and talk for a few minutes before teeing off. Oh and they were all playing from the tips. Not one of them were under 50 and should have been playing from there. All in all, this place is a joke. I wouldn't golf there if I had to pay one dollar. If you wanted to be treated like an outcast, then this is your place.

Me & my friend booked on Sunday 24th at 3;26pm tee time through golfnow.com. It didn't say walking only when I made the reservation. Anyway, it was hot
and humid, I struggled 9 holes and decided we should gave up playing, it was not fun at all. Suggestion is, if in the future you only allow people
walking that day, please let us know in advance. I am
63 years old, I just can't handle this.

Overall good value. Food at the turn us pretty weak.

The fairways are tight on several holes and require thoughtfullness from the tee, with an iron tee shot on occasion.

Although, in my experince - spraying tees shots right with monotonous regualrity doesn't get you in to much trouble - ball can be found & just a punch back to the fairway gets you back on track.

Quite enjoyable. Deer on the course are a treat for an Aussie playing in Chicago.

Decent course for $30. Closer to home hence I played. Very busy at the time I played yesterday so it was slow. Earlier in the week when I played, we finished 18 in 4 hours.

Overall, ok course for the price they charge.

Got a great deal for Saturday ($39 w/ cart). Can't beat the rate. Overall course was in good shape although there were many spots on the fairway that was roped off for repair or poo conditions.

Greens were fast. Hole placement was challenging at times but overall fair. Pace of play was great. We were first out @ 5:38 AM and we were cruising until we were asked to slow our pace to allow grounds keeper to work on the greens.

We finished 18-holes just under 3 hours. We were expecting thunderstorm but fortunately enough it came late in the morning. If I do see similar rate, will definitely come back.

On the front 9 we waited on every shot. It started to move after 10 but still took 4 1/2 hours to play. There was no beverage cart and the 1/2way house has limited supplies.

We have played Winnetka a number of times from the back tees and I am always surprised at the difficulty and how long the course plays. It had rained quite a bit the day before so it was extra long. Staff and patio are great.

5 1/2 hours pace. No rangers were seen during our round. Carts appear to be outdated -- takes about 4-5 seconds to get going. Ground has not been leveled and cart paths, where they exist, are in terrible shape. The course is short and narrow. No need to ride ultimately. A driver, 4 iron (for the par 5's), PW, and putter is all you'll need for this course. Greens and fairways were in fairly decent shape although there was a lot of ground under repair. No beverage cart, but water fountains can be found throughout the course. Way too pricey for the quality and experience of this course. Will not be returning.

I have played this course twice and both times I was actually turned off by the lack of friendlyness of the staff. I play lots of courses around Chicago and have never had this issue anywhere else. The course itself is pretty fun and in good shape but I'd say it is a little over priced for what you get.

Nice course. Conditions were below par due to hard rains the night before. Nice staff and amenities around clubhouse.
