Winnetka Good Value
Course was in good condition and the pace of play was ok. The weather was overcast and a little chilly bu t we played in a little over 3 hours. I thought it was a good value for the money
Shot makers course
Old school course layout with small greens and tight fairways. Leave the driver in the car! If you want to score well here you have to keep the ball in the short stuff. Anything outside of that is pretty much dead and you will be scrambling just to make par or bogey. Overall, cool course that doesn't bode well unless you can shape some draws and fades. Greens slightly slow in my opinion but roll true. Will play again!
Winnetka golf club
I haven't played Winnetka in almost 25 years but still found it enjoyable. It was my home course at New Trier West high school back in the 70's. The conditions are what you would expect for a municipal owned course but overall decent. The people working there are very nice. 17 & 18 are tough finishing holes. I stood on 17 tee one under for the day and walked off 18 green one over. The greens were real nice for April. Bunkers need some work but it is April.
Challenges for all amidst gorgeous setting. The staff is very friendly.
The course is just waking up from a cold winter season; with trees budding and the beginning of gorgeous flowers the course puts out. Next week literally millions of daffodils should be smiling at you as you search the rough for your ball. It's a challenge to most as you'll find as you make your way around the course. The friendly staff has this year really reached out to welcome us golfers! The driving range is a great place to practice.
Nov play
Got to course at 10:20 for an 11:23 tee time. Pro shop would not let me register or take my riding cart until 11:00. Greens were sanded and extremely slow. All ball washers were removed. I would have been angry if I had to pay full $33 greens fee.
Don't censor honest regiews
Greens, tee boxes and fairways are good. There are a lot of leaves and the bunkers are a bit inconsistent but understandable for this time of year. The staff is very friendly and it's a laid back course with lots of walkers so the pace can be somewhat slow if you are riding. Most people don't seem to mind but it may bug you if you're in a hurry.
I love this game and what it stands for so when I give a scathing review of the poor management at Klein Creek so they can change their ways, Golf Advisor should not reject it. Otherwise what is the point of leaving reviews that could potentially help other golfers and increase the credibility of your site? Are you here to advise on course conditons, amenities and Customer Service or are you here to advertise and sell tee times?
For $30 it's a good deal
18 holes in 4.5 hrs is slow for a weekday but I've done it in 3.5 hrs here too. It just depends on who's in front of you. The place is kept up well, fairways and greens are nice. Staff is friendly enough. Driving range and practice greens are nice to have too. Wish there weren't mats on the range but oh well. Overall I liked it.
Impressed
Great course and good value. I would definitely like to play it again.
Beautiful Green & Trap Design
Great course layout. Green and Bunker design better than expected.
Challenging Greens
Rude staff
Felt like a second class citizen because I booked a cheap rate on golf now.com. If the staff doesn't like the rates offered by golf now they should discontinue the relationship.
This course is close & well maintained!
Enjoyed a great day in Winnetka. There was a lightning siren as soon as I pulled up, but after walking in the staff was very friendly and assured me that we would resume play shortly. They were right- it turned out to be a great course and great weather. Well maintained and beautiful scenery.
Target Golf
Winnetka is always a challenging course. Although the fairways are wide there are many tall old trees on this course which forces you to play in the fairways or you are in for a long day. The course is always kept up and is in great condition.
Chipping , putting and practice range are plentiful. This is a great place to practice your short game or bunker play. One of my favorite courses.
Easy
Got a special deal so price was very good for play
Fair course, but bumby
I played here for the first time with my wife and we rode a cart due to it being included with the GolfNow price. Well, the next time i play here I will walk. There are only a few places on the course where there is a paved cart path. So you are encouraged to drive on the fairway and it is like a mine field. If you have a weak bladder this might not be the best option for you!
Ranger Needed. SLOW
Pace of play is unreal. Really was slow with no ranger to keep things moving. Had to sit down & wait on every shot. I get it, folks want to walk but the afternoon was stacked with 80yo couples carrying their bags & tracking their 30 yard misses.
So slow the group ahead of us walked backwards towards the tee to take my golf ball & drop it in the middle of the next hole's fairway. They yelled something back about us playing too fast into them.
Just a wacky time with 3 groups sitting on each Par 3. Smh
Good but overpriced
Had a good time today, but it is way overpriced and the staff is not friendly. They seemed as if they were bothered by people in general. However, the course is in very good shape and the greens are well kept. There are better options in the area for that price point.
Cold day but, nice and playable
I had a fun round. Friendly and helpful staff, the course was in good shape. Will be a lot of fun when the warmer weather hits. You can make the course as challenging as you'd like. Overall, a fun course.
Not a great experience
Outside of the starter the course was meh overall...greens were in good shape, but most of the course was roped off and had a lot of standing water.
They also offer all of the early tee times to permanent members so good luck getting out before 11a and be prepared to wait at virtually every hole.
Could be good, but just wasn't really worth it...which is a bummer given the location. I wouldn't recommend paying more that $25-30 to play here.
