Great 9 Hole
Amazing views, good variety of holes, somewhat challenging, but very, very fun!
Very cool course with great views
This is a links style course. I like to play after work. It does get windy up there, so be prepared. The sunsets and views of the city are unrivaled. Sometimes it’s hard to find balls because the rough is fairly thick and there are flowering weeds there this time of year. The greens need some care as golfers often “forget” to repair their ball marks, but it is a public course so it’s to be expected.
Got my first hole in one yesterday in the 168 yard par 3 6th hole! Overall- a great place to go play nine!
Helpful pro shop guy
Lost our range finder but the pro shop guy found it and held onto it for us- thanks
Like/Hate relationship
This course gets very windy, like gale force winds on a regular basis. This week it was particularly bad. Winds must have been 50 mph or more. To give it context, on the 5th hole, I had 150 to the center of the pin into the wind so I clubbed up and hit my 9i which is my 165 club. Flushed it and the ball ended up 75 yards short. On that same hole I teed off with my 2 iron which is typically 265 off of the tee and it went 165. As frustrating as that is, I was able to adjust and hit lower, penetrating approach shots to compensate. The really frustrating thing is that the greens are particularly difficult for a course of this rating. Combine that with the wind and ridiculous pin placements and it is a recipe for complete frustration. On two holes 7 and 9), the pin placement, combined with the wind made it virtually impossible to chip or putt and have the ball hold the green.i love a challenge, but this isn’t even fun. If the course was rated at 135 or something I would accept it, but not for what it’s currently rated at.
Willow Hill
Course is really fun, no trees easy to find your ball. It’s links style so you never really have a flat lie. Bunkers are pretty deep but nothing like Scotland. You can see the Chicago skyline from some holes. Overall good course, the range was closed so that was not ideal. The only “bad” thing per se is the parking lot is just gravel. Same with all cart paths. I walked which was easy.
Not the course’s fault but very wet
Fairways were pretty swampy and the cart paths were pretty destroyed and need to be paved again but good round otherwise
The Course Should Have Been Closed
We are all for golf courses staying open to make money. But this course on this day was in unplayable condition. Fairways soggy. Bunkers and low areas were puddles of water. Ponds and rivers. Walking only which is normally not a problem? But the unpaved paths were torture because stone and sand had huge ruts from one hole to another. Or the paths were also unmanageable or under water. There needs to come a time when a course says it’s not going to be a good experience for the recreational player. This course didn’t do that. And honestly, while we normally would play it a few times in the season? We are unlikely to go back. It was $50 for a twosome poorly spent.
Great value, nice layout.
Course is great and a challenge to walk on a windy day! Only thing I’d ask is to fill the ball washers! Otherwise it was in very good condition and the greens were fair and well maintained.
Chicago golf in February ..very windy!!
Very windy on that day. Course is still wet from melting snow with additional snow patches. Overall for how bad the weather's been I would say that the course itself was just fine.
Willow hill
I am not a great golfer but the course was fun and has a great view. There was some construction going on as to the -1 star. But will come back for sure.
Fun for a casual nine hole rounds of golf
The staff is super friendly. Course was in good condition not super difficult. The group in front of us was incredibly slow.
