About
Crystal Woods Golf Club dates back to the 1950s when it was opened as a nine-hole, par-37 course called Bit O’ Heather Golf Club, which it was known as until 1967 when the course was renamed and completely redesigned, which included the addition of another nine. The par-72 course that exists today tumbles across a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The golf course is mostly wide open, putting it at the mercy of the prevailing winds. On particularly blustery days, Crystal Woods Golf Club is quite demanding. The 12th is the course’s signature and it even has a reputation for being the most difficult hole in McHenry County. It’s tempting to be distracted by the beautiful view from the elevated tee but this tough hole requires your full attention. The double-tiered green rises dramatically from front to back, often demanding three or more putts.

Very good course, greens excellent and good pace of play.

Course in really nice shape. Always enjoyed playing here in the past. Love it now. Met the new GM (Chris). Seems like the right guy for the job.
Really enjoyed it
Played here for the first time despite living in the area for a long time and really enjoyed it. I look forward to coming back when things are growing and leaves are on the trees. Nice property with rolling terrain and mature tree lined fairways.
Just ok
We decided to play here since we haven’t before and it was just ok, pace was super slow so for the drive time and how slow it was for sure not going back.

Course in great shape not many divots,pace was excellent could not catch up to 3 in front of us no one behind us most of day. Very courteous staff makes me want to be a member.
Pretty nice, challenging course.
Nice course and in pretty good condition. Good layout. Challenging but not too challenging. Paid $40 which I feel is a little high for this course. Staff was very nice, helpful and accommodating. Gas carts are in great shape.
Pace of play declined 3 holes in after a foursome held us up so we skipped a hole and everything went smooth , course was in great shape !!!
