Sugar Ridge Golf Club
About
One half of Sugar Ridge Golf Club is situated in extreme southwestern Ohio while the other half winds up into the Indiana hills. The border location may be unconventional but the setting provides a dramatic backdrop. The course sprawls across rolling hills that are abundant with wildlife. Wild turkey and deer have been known to roam the golf course. The layout has a few parallel fairways though the trees, and hills give each hole a completely secluded feel. The back nine feels more open than the front, but that may only be because of the ponds and lakes that come into play on many of the holes. Throughout Sugar Ridge Golf Club, golfers will find that the par 3s are fairly straightforward and the par 5s have sloping, uphill fairways that make them feel even longer. There are a few memorable par 4s, notable for both their scenery and level of difficulty.

Needs Improvements
This course has the ability to be awesome but needs some serious work. The greens are covered in ball marks, the tee boxes are mostly crab grass as well are the fairways, the bunkers might as well be mud. Improve the quality of the course and I'll come back. Until then I'll be playing elsewhere
Target golf course with less than steller conditions
It'd been 20+ years since I played this course. I should foreseen what was coming when I noticed weeds outside the clubhouse on the way in to pay. On the third hole tee box our group compared course maps on our scorecards and found out there were two different versions and I choose the wrong target as a result. (they should have tossed the cards with the old layout) The course is pretty tight with lots of elevation changes. Lots of long cart rides between holes and the layout is less than straightforward. In my opinion there are better course options in Greater Cincinnati for a similar price.
Not Worth It.
An ok course for beginners at best. Greens were in extremely poor condition and the tee boxes were more like quicksand than grass. With the exception of the young woman in the bar and grill the staff was less than helpful and friendly.
The "practice green" was beyond anything I've ever seen. Will not play here again. There are plenty of other courses in the area similar in price and are better maintained.
Better than the last couple of years.
The course is in much better shape than the last couple of years. Greens, tee boxes and fairways in adequate shape. Some clover in the rough but no dandelions. For the cost and speed of play it is a great deal.
relaxing day of golf
Nice facility with nice friendly people. The location is very accessible and the course provides a nice challenge for the intermediate golfer.
nice course
great course, friendly people and the concessions price are the best in the greater Cincinnati area
play it forward
as a member of a senior group I recommend the play it forward rule. the course has a confusing but well marked layout.. the cart paths are in good shape and we believe that a cart is necessary because of the many elevation changes. we are not sure that some of the par three yardages are correct based on some unexpected results off the tee.
Nice hidden secret in the tri-state area
Very challenging from a hazard standpoint, yet it's not a goat path so you get some decent lies on the fairways. Some holes are wide open, while others are packed in tight. They do a nice job on course layout and have a ton of land to spread the 18 holes over. Definitely ride on this one. I've played here several times. The staff is super friendly, as well as the rangers who actually patrol and try to keep the pace moving. Thanks to Golf Now you can find some insane good deals on this course, which makes it well worth the money.
Good Course
I played on a rainy morning. The course was pretty much empty. I enjoy this course and find that the front 9 is more challenging. For the money I think its a great course to play.
Spring weather-windy
Greens were fast and in excellent condition. lots of 3 putts from distance. fairways in great shape
The course in decent condition.
Greens were fast. Course could have at least four sets of tees per hole.
Well Worth It
If you ever get a chance to play this course, DO IT!
One of the most scenic I've ever played, yes right here in southern Indiana. Plan to play it again soon.
I drove about sixty miles one way to play, well worth it. Rate it a 4.9 out of 5.
Too Early in the season
The course layout is great but the conditions were not up to par. Late spring and summer would be the best time to play this course.
horible cart paths
early in the year, but the greens could be a little better. Cart paths are very bad. Hard on carts and riders. tee beds were not over seeded last fall and greens could use some extra care.
Course Needs Rangers
Made a tee time for 18 holes. Front nine took 3 hours. There were 3 groups on the 10th hole, so we left.
course in good shape for the winter we had
course in good shape. why do we have to use so many characters???
Great Course
I played this course a few times 10+ years ago and came back with a buddy of mine. Course is still in great shape and played awesome.
Fun but challenging at the same time.
Was windy conditions when we played. But greens were great and staff was friendly.
nice course, worth the money
I feel it's kinda unfair to review this course because of the recent rain some areas were quite wet. Fairways and greens were very good but the rough was very penal because of the dampness and leaves. all in all a nice course and very scenic. my dad and I had a great time. P.S. friendly staff.
Don't ever walk this course !
I played Sugar Ridge for 2 reasons. First it was an unbelievable deal that I got off of Golfnow. I couldn't even play my home course, which I have a membership at, for the price I paid to play. Second it had been quite a few years since I have played the course and once again the layout had been changed. (I believe this was the 3rd or 4th different layout since it first opened back in the late 80's or early 90's. My problem with it is that you criss cross back and forth over the holes several times. So don't even consider WALKING THIS COURSE !
