Sugar Ridge Golf Club
About
One half of Sugar Ridge Golf Club is situated in extreme southwestern Ohio while the other half winds up into the Indiana hills. The border location may be unconventional but the setting provides a dramatic backdrop. The course sprawls across rolling hills that are abundant with wildlife. Wild turkey and deer have been known to roam the golf course. The layout has a few parallel fairways though the trees, and hills give each hole a completely secluded feel. The back nine feels more open than the front, but that may only be because of the ponds and lakes that come into play on many of the holes. Throughout Sugar Ridge Golf Club, golfers will find that the par 3s are fairly straightforward and the par 5s have sloping, uphill fairways that make them feel even longer. There are a few memorable par 4s, notable for both their scenery and level of difficulty.

great course!
This course is amazing. Beautiful scenery. Great course layout and very well maintained. This is my new favorite course I would recommend this course to any one
Always a fun time !
Great course! Greens and fairways are always excellent. Pace of play was really slow. Front nine went really good. Back nine came to a crawl... Not sure if they squeezed some peeps in your not. But always enjoy playing here.
Average local course
Average public course. The tee boxes could be better maintained, few were actually flat. 30$ is the most I would pay for this course.
Slow on weekends, but worth it
After playing years ago, revisited course due to good price ($18 per round) via Golfnow. Since I'm now hitting 86-96, it was a nice experience to play it. Nice rolling hills, but not killer steep. It was a busy Sat., there was a wait on each hole, but the fun we had overshadowed that. Nice facilities and course was in good condition.
No Thank You
Decent course conditions. Tee boxes were mostly awful. Cannot play out of the sand here. Marshalls somehow let a 6-some out on a Saturday which led to a 3+ hour front 9. Finally broke it up at the turn. Arrived at 10:25 for a 10:39 tee time. Did not get checked in and teed off until almost 11:00. Poorly designed course, probably decent value for a week day but for weekend golf pace of play must be enforced and it was not in the slightest., Thumbs Down.
Nice morning for golf
The Sugar Ridge course was fine and the rate via GN was excellent. The front 9 was definitely more challenging than the back. The greens could use a little work but overall we're in good but not great shape. The staff we're not very friendly...not sure if it was the early morning or their general disposition.
Well worth the trip to southeast Indiana
Nice course with challenging layout. Beautiful fairways, nice greens and pleasant scenery. Only downside is the sand traps are like rocks. Need a little more work than just dragging them. Not sure the last time they were actually raked, or turned over. That issue is not a reason to not play. Well worth the visit. The staff is always friendly, and accommodating.
Great Value.
Staff always very friendly. Really short course but fun. I believe it's a par 70. Back is 34. Very nice layout as far as woods and seperation go.
Great course- great value!
Pace of play could be regulated more by the starters- too many beginners taking too many shots. We really enjoy the staff and love the layout!
Saturday July 12th Golf
The course was lacking grass but it was challenging and an interesting course to play. The pace of play was extremely slow. It was a hurry up and wait round for sure.
Great Day
Nice people and no waiting. Good fun golf course. We be back several more time this summer!
Shot makers course
Not a long corse. Has a lot nice views. Greens are nice. Big disappointment in fairways they were hard as rocks.
Excellent Day for Golf
Our golf experience was excellent at Sugar Ridge Golf Course. Someone is our foursome was running late and the staff at Sugar Ridge let us wait for him before we teed off. The course was is great condition the only issue was their is alot of un-repaired ball marks on the greens. The greens were soft which was causing all these extra ball marks. This wan't a big deal because the course was in nice condition considering all the dry weather we have had lately. I would recommend this course in the future.
Sugar ridge so so
I've seen it in better shape. Has some burn spots already. Greens are a bit beat up .
Sugar Ridge golf 6/21/14
Course allow 2 players without pairing us up. Fast pace under 3.5 hours. Greens are fast, fairways nice, and ruff reasonable. Greens don't break as much as they look, a lot of straight putts. Drinks were very reasonable also.
Fair Course. Unfair Pins
Course was in decent condition. Not a very long course, but you would be a fool to walk (not sure if that is an option). Not many of the holes are right by each other. The course setup is nice, but who ever set the pin placements wasn't being very friendly or they are flat out dumb.
Their Own Worst Enemy
Sad to say, because our family lives in the Sugar Ridge community, but this is not a User Friendly course... We like to play with our sons on weekend afternoons, because the course is wide open - typically only a couple groups on the entire course; yet invariably there are multiple, cantankerous rangers going out of their way to make you feel unwelcomed, especially junior golfers!
Sunday is Father's Day & forecast in nice, but looking on golfnow.com, nearly every teetime is still available - there's a reason why.
Don't even bother
Well, if you like terrible tee boxes, horrible fairways, wicked elevation changes and the ball below your feet, above your feet, to the side of your feet then this is your course. And if would like to walk the course, even 9 holes forget it. I must admit if you can play this course well you can play anywhere and have success, but I will never return.
Nice course
Long hitters can leave their driver at home. Love that you have to place tee shots on most par 4s instead of just bomb it out as far as you can. Tee'd off with 5 iron (200yds) on two holes and 2hybrid (225-250) on most others and had 100 - 140 to the green on most. There is a long par 5 that is straight but narrow less than driver is the smart play for a three shot to green. Overall liked the course and will play again.
Nice course, good value
The course was playing shorter than usual as they were doing some work to the tee boxes but overall the course was in very good shape.
