Sugar Ridge Golf Club
About
One half of Sugar Ridge Golf Club is situated in extreme southwestern Ohio while the other half winds up into the Indiana hills. The border location may be unconventional but the setting provides a dramatic backdrop. The course sprawls across rolling hills that are abundant with wildlife. Wild turkey and deer have been known to roam the golf course. The layout has a few parallel fairways though the trees, and hills give each hole a completely secluded feel. The back nine feels more open than the front, but that may only be because of the ponds and lakes that come into play on many of the holes. Throughout Sugar Ridge Golf Club, golfers will find that the par 3s are fairly straightforward and the par 5s have sloping, uphill fairways that make them feel even longer. There are a few memorable par 4s, notable for both their scenery and level of difficulty.

Fun short course.
Course in great shape. Greens were the best I've played all year. Very few ball marks, great movement, and very fast. You do drive around alot on this course so be prepared to fell like your driving in circles. Other than that, get out and play this course.
Super Layout!......Could use some more Landscaping
Nice Course layout......very different from other " out and back " type of courses......gives you the feeling of being away from it all......great place to play......can usually get a good rate for 18!
I like this course more every time I play it
The course was in great condition and playing long from the back tees. Nice pin placements and tees. Had a sprinkle come through but it lasted on 10 minutes. I will be back to play this course again.
Pace of play
Greens were in nice shape...a little slow. Overall the course was in good shape and they have replaced some of the worst cart paths. You do a lot off travelling from green to next tee since the course redesign.
The only complaint I have is that both times I have played it, you find people starting on #10 when you are making the turn!!! This slows play down for the people who start on #1. I don't know if this is course policy or just lack of oversight from the course staff, BUT I do know if it happens again, we will not be back!
Course is in great shape,
Cant beat this course if u get it at $20 or under. With a long par 5 then a hard par 3 and reachable par 4 lined up together it can get bogged down.
Sugar Ridge has the best greens in the area.
Course is in very good condition. The greens are the best I have played on this tear.
Very challenging course, you must be fairly accurate with your shots, if not you are penalized greatly.
I have walked many courses, but I would definately not recommend walking this course. The course itself is on many, many acres. enough that you could probably put at least another course or two on it. Many elevation tee shots, which I thought was nice.
Best I ever seen it, sweet !
Up from 352 an its my 1st time here this yr, its real nice nice.
Smokin Hot
Great course.
This course is great, but we waited on almost every hole. For a Monday at 11AM, it was disappointing.
course conditions steadily improving
New Zolzia grass is taking hold and thus improving fairway conditions. Greens are consistent for speed and smoothness. Currently cartpath repair is in progress. Overall conditions are good to great and I can see it only getting better as the cartpath work progresses.
Course has issues..
It's a nice layout and the greens were in pretty good shape, but the rest of the course was not good. They apparently tried to put in new fairways this year but they haven't taken very well. I give this 2 stars simply because of the greens being in good shape. But I probably won't go back.
It's Back !
After several maintenance projects, Sugar Ridge is, once again, one of the hidden gems of the Tri-State area. The greens were consistent in speed and smooth. The fairways have filled nicely after a complete makeover.
Great course
Great course had a great time and been playing there pretty regularly since I have relocated to the area.
Great shape!!!
Fairways and Greens are in excellent condition on 4/23/13. There was a lot of wildlife from deer, turkey, ducks, and hawks flying above. The wildlife makes the golf that much more relaxing for me!
Challenge from the tips, friendly staff, course was in good shape
Very enjoyable. Course was in good shape tee to green. Played from the tips to increase the challenge. Course is tight enough in areas that one can get into trouble if spraying the ball around. The layout has changed since the course was first built due to additional housing, snakes around a bit, but is clearly marked to direct you to the next tee. Carts are a bit long in the tooth.
Staff was very friendly and the great weather made it a very enjoyable round.
Very wet
Fairways had two different grasses. Cart paths in horrible conditions. It's only worth 18 bucks. Greens were ok.
Solid course in fair shape
The course overall was in fair shape, fairways were in ok shape, greens were a little sandy. some bunkers were ok others were awful. Playing from the back tees I considered it a moderately challenging course maybe a 3/5. I did really like the layout (somewhat similar to pebble creek/beech creek). We played for $24 with a cart on a Sunday so it was a good deal. We did however, wait on many holes for the groups in front of us to get moving. The staff was kind of goofy but tolerable. Just make sure you take the correct numbered cart. I saw a fellow patron take some heat for messing that up. Oh and when playing this course try to hit it straight and in the fairways, I find it much easier that way.lol.
Don't let the scorecard fool you-this course is NOT easy!!!
This course is one of the "hidden gems" in town. The PoP here is not the best because there is alot of yardage to traverse between several of the holes and is is VERY easy to find trouble on this course with EVERY shot. The best way I can describe Sugar Ridge is to say this is "white knuckle golf" at it's finest. Every hole is fraught with danger and the greens are lightning fast. Trust me when I say this course plays alot longer than it appears on the scorecard and the white tees are set at 5650 yards for a reason!
One of the most beautiful courses you will ever play and every hole seems to be set in it's own little world. They have reconfigured this course many times over the years but they have it set it right now- if you haven't played here lately, give the course another chance- it's breathtaking (in more ways than one!)
This course was fun!
I had been here before and promised I would be back....found it on Golf Now for an incredible price! Had to come a little hilly but great place to ..play golf and enjoy your round!
