a must play course
the front nine greens was aerated and putted slow the back nine wasn't aerated and was at normal speed the fairway and rough was mowed good the bunkers like most of Kentucky parks golf course need some work on them but overall still a great course
In great shape
Course was crowded today so it played slow. The greens and fairways were in great shape. Bunkers need attention.
First Time
Fairways are open for the most part. The greens are challenging. I’m a beginner level golfer, and this course was perfect not too easy or not too hard.I will definitely come back, and play again.
Had one helluva time
If you ever get a chance, ya gotta play this course. It was so crowded, they grouped me with 3 other golfers who were 2 brothers and a buddy. One brother just got out of the Coast Guard and wanted to show his buddy, who had never set foot on a course, how to play. Being fresh out of the Coast Guard and still in shape, this man was hitting 200yd lofts that also carried distance. Was wild watching him hit. The course was very well kept and layout was great but some cart rules were a little ridiculous considering it’s a State Park. But overall considering how good the layout was and how well kept the carts were and the GREAT the hospitality was it was definitely worth the price.
Very Satisfied
Beautiful course and excellent greens. There are three Par 5’s, Eleven par 4’s and four par 3’s. course par is 71. I would like to see another par 5 but overall it is a great course.
Sidenote: Holed out on the 9th hole from about 30 yards out! Fun round!
Hilly Parts Cause Downward Scoring
This is a great diverse track with wide and narrow fairways, flat and rolling greens, left and right doglegs, creeks and ponds, short and deep rough. One rarity - there are only 3 tee boxes and they are designated as 1, 2 & 3.
Conditions were ideal, from weather, staff and tee boxes to fairways and greens. There is an occasional need for caution as a few front fairways run side by side .
Pace of play was slow. We were a twosome following a single following a threesome. Why the threesome wouldn't let the single play through was a mystery. Several tee shots required a 5 to 10 minute wait as we tried to make out whether the single in front of us was in play.
We made the turn with a decent first time score until 3 hilly holes on the back 9 brought in blind fairway shots, forced carries over creeks to uphill greens and sloping pin placements. Boom went the scorecard.
Ducks, geese, birds and rabbits were the only wildlife seen until our long cartpath ride from the 17th green to the 18th tee crossed paths with a doe and her two fawns (see photo).
While the course is challenging we enjoyed our day and hope to play MOKH again soon.
Updates and improvements
Wow! So many improvements over years past. Really worked hard to get this great local course back in to playing condition. Greens are vastly improved and reseeded with many of them rolling true and challenging. Traps all have great sand and are well groomed. Fairways are in excellent condition and the rough was just right. Great job to the superintendent for the upgrades and care put back in to this course! Highly recommended!
Really Enjoy this Course
I wish I could find time to play this course as I truly enjoy playing it. It is a good test of golf, but open enough for golfers of any ability to play. Play was slow today, but it was a perfect day for golf and the course was packed. Encourage anyone to give this beautiful and well kept course a try. Was a little surprised at the slow speed of the greens which took a few holes to adjust to, but overall was just a great day on the course.
A little rough
The fairways are in bad shape. The greens are in average shape. The course has a good layout. It just needs a little TLC.
Also, I was charged more than what golf now said the greens fee would be. That needs to be straightened out.
Consider another course
I played this course several times in 2020, course was in fine condition every round I played, now, not so much.
I usually don’t write reviews, but I thought I should try.
Honestly the course should not have been open, the fairways are mud, literally no grass, tee boxes are the same and the greens are very slow and bumpy, however the carts were nice.
The course is a beautiful layout, but the course condition is terrible. The KY State Park system is the best in the nation, but this was a letdown.
