Twin Oaks May 6-7
So, I actually played the course on back-to-back days. May 6, everything was great. I was alone, however, and told to play the back 9 first. The staff I encountered was really nice. The course was in good shape and I was able to absolutely fly. It was awesome!
Day 2: I arrived, checked in and was told that I was paired up with others who had booked on golfnow. No problem...that's the normal expectation. I have 20 minutes until my tee time, so I go to roll a few putts on the practice green. I rolled 1 putt and the starter comes over hollering at me to get to the 1st tee because I am up. 15 minutes before my tee time. So I go meet 2 of the group's other players on the tee and tee off. Then the starter goes "We're still waiting on your group's 4th player." So, I got yelled at for no reason and rushed for no reason. Thanks, guy. Then later, on the course after the 11th hole, my cart dies. Then the cart lady who brought me a cart starts to make comments about us playing slow. Seeing how my cart is barely moving, and I am playing with 3 guys I have never met and we played the front 9 in 1 hr and 50 minutes...Back off!
The staff on day 2 made the experience unenjoyable. My tee time was at 8:40 (8:30 thanks to the starter jumping the gun), I was in my car at 12:25. After playing with a group of strangers and shooting a 71, and having a cart die on the course....Playing 18 holes in under 4 hours is not slow play. Get your outside services staff under control. Thanks.
Nice course in the city
Front nine is nice and open, back nine gets tougher! Fun course and was in great shape for April. It rained the night before so there were some soggy spots but the fairways and greens were in good shape. COVID requirements caused some slow play problems with carts but it was a nice day to get out.
Friday Frenzy
Escaping Covid19 playing golf at the TwinOaks golf course. Great day very busy and course in awesome shape for April 3rd.
course was good
course was awesome. the had just aerated the greens but they were still rolling amazingly well. i always enjoy the course. even though its very open you can get into trouble if you dont put it in the right place. But i love the course and for 25 dollars its a steal.
Exceeded expectations
Good late summer golf can be difficult to find, but twin oaks was in really good shape. The tee boxes were soft. Only one green had some damage. Fairways had a multitude of different grass growing in it, but there was grass. Will definitely be back.
This course is NOT worth $46.50. Furthermore, the starter(s) are not well managed. This is the ONLY course I've played that permitted a five-some to play. The started permitted this...it slow the pace of play. There were back-ups due to the five-some.
$30 not $25
Online price was $25 but when I got here a rude old man demanded $30. Claimed $25 was the weekday rate.
rude staff, average course
There was no one at the registration desk when I got there, and when they finally showed up, they were more concerned with when I might be done with my round than welcoming me to the place.
When I finished, someone from the staff seemed to be out-and-out berating a customer in the parking lot. Bizarre experience.
course review
greens were good except some people dont know how to fix ball marks. excellent shape and i love the course even though it tears me up. i find it challenging but i have a good time there.
A solid value
Have walked the front 9 many times only play the back when I can get a cart cheaply, as yesterday. Front is mostly straight forward, while the back punishes errant shots with lost balls as water and/or OB looms on most holes. Most fairways are good and greens fairly quick. Rough is generally playable. Sand traps are well maintained except for one flooded/muddy one, which of course I found.
Course is set in urban area so not the quietest course, but a pleasant place to play.
Good Conditions!
Course was in good shape all around and moved along well.
Great deal on steak dinner after the round!
Rude Staff
Play here almost weekly and consistently have dealt with some of the rudest staff in the clubhouse. The persons running the restaurant could not be any less friendly to someone wanting to spend their money here. They are argumentative and seemed bothered to help you. It’s a shame such a nice course lacks all customer service.
Great course, pretty good fairways (except for the reseeded areas)
This was my first time using this course. I've always been hesitant to play it because I once lived nearby and my backyard had a lot of mosquito problems. However, it was a beautiful day (no mosquitoes either!) and the course was well manicured. The rough was thick. The fairways were pretty good--patchy at some locations-- and 12, 13, & 14 are being re-seeded, so if you hit into the re-seed areas, they ask you to take a free drop rather than hitting out of there.
The course is relatively flat and doesn't have too many thickets of trees, so I didn't lose many balls.
The couple of forced carries are nice, and the carts are nice as well. I think it's probably my second favorite public course that I've played in NKY.
No where on the course website do I see a rate of $46.50. I plat regularly for between $33 and $38.40..
