Much Improved
Best I’ve seen the course in a few years. Greens might be rolling the best ever. Only a couple small imperfections on entire 18 putting surfaces, greens have filled in nicely. I am impressed with conditions since just last year!!
Beautiful day
Me and 3 friends went out today at 7:40 in the morning for a round and the course is overall in excellent condition....couple patchy areas but nothing to be alarmed about....we let a group of 2 go through us after the 4th hole and was smooth sailing from there...played in a leisurely 5 hours and the concession stand is open in the back now....friendly staff as always and I’ll definitely be back very soon
Course has sand traps but does not maintain them. Fairways and greens were good. There are no services at Fox so nothing to grab to eat or drink at the turn. Once was a great place to play, but that has changed.
FOX RUN 2019
The course was in much better shape than 2018 & 2017. I love the L/O but traps have not been kept for years. The greens were in great shape. It's a shame the public doesn't support this more. ARTHUR HILLS courses are always a great challenge. I'll be back.
Early season
Concession stand back at Fox Run isn’t opened yet so be sure to bring plenty to drink with you...fairways still have no color but are in fine shape, greens were in great shape as well....I played alone and went through a group of 4 and didn’t see anyone else out there ....rough wasn’t to long and it was easy to spot balls on most holes...everyone in the clubhouse is always friendly and makes u feel welcome there....Kenton County is becoming one of my favorite places to play
Muni golf at its Average
I played here regularly when a job took me here once a month. Last time was 7 years ago. This course is the best one of the three at this municipal golf complex. The prices are reasonable and the course is OK...average. But it is accessible, playable, and a not bad round of golf. Play it for fun.
Nice course out in the country!
First off, I have heard mixed reviews about the Kenton county country club. Some good some bad. I have now played all three 18 hole courses (end of the season 2018). It was 50 and sunny and there was no one on Fox Run but us... which was great! The course is beautiful and challenging. It also had a good variety of holes, which kept things interesting. Some were open fairways, some where hilly up and downs. Overall great course to play! My father loved the course. We saw three large bucks and over 10 does. It truely felt like we were in the middle of the back hills of Kentucky. I would recommend the course! The restaurant was closed and the snack stand on fox run is closed for the season (November), so we were thirsty and hungry at the end of the day. Had a great time and we will return!
*note* I have heard the course to overpacked in the spring / summer, but I have not played during that time.
Needs maintenance
This is a fun course to play but the sand traps are overgrown and unplayable. The concession stand was open at 11 when we started but closed at 2 when we made the turn. It is probably close to a mile or more back to the clubhouse. We should have been told that the concession stand would close early so we could make our purchases at the clubhouse.
Wonderful condition
Played this course today with my brother for 18.00 hot deal. Despite the negative reviews I couldn’t resist playing for the price, boy was I happy. Fairways are nice and plush, greens rolled a little slow, but true. Tee boxes are in great shape, rough was well maintained as well, easy to spot balls off the fairway. The only gripe I have is the lack of yardage markers and some of the cart paths are in need of repair. Water coolers throughout the course, snack shop back there when u make the turn, and the layout is awesome. Difficult course to play overall, few holes that u have to carry 200+ yards to reach the fairway, but it’s pretty open. Good use of the natural elevation changes adds to the difficulty, as well some funky sidehill lies, hit plenty shots with the ball above/below your feet. Will definitely be back to play next weekend and I recommend giving it a shot as long as you’re not a beginner. One of the best conditioned course I’ve been on this year.
3 courses
Pioneer was in poor condition when I played but the layout is good it has some nice holes.
Willows was in great shape early in the year but not so much now, really good layout.
Have not played Fox Run since last year, it’s a challenging course with a great layout, except the new 18th hole
Improving
Played at Fox Run Saturday. Course seemed to be improving based on the comments a few months back.
Greens rolled pretty true, only a couple had bare spots and they were on the outer edges. Most of the fairways were in ok shape, definitely getting better after the summer. Bunkers were completely unplayable it seemed. Cart paths have definitely seen better days.
Overall, not great but not terrible. Played in an outing and didn't really have any issues with the above conditions.
Somebody dropped the ball!
The cart paths look like they were in a war zone, first hole was flooded and 2 greens were in terrible condition. The clubhouse and parking lot were in immaculate condition but they forgot about the upkeep of the course itself. Somebody dropped the ball. I'd wait until next year before going to this course.
Not worth the money
The kenton county golf courses used to be some of the nicest courses in NKY. Now the parking lot is the nicest part of any of three courses. The fairways are below average at best, bunkers are not playable, and half of the greens are completely ate up. Not worth the money, go play at meadowwood where its about $10-$15 dollars cheaper and in better shape.
Conditions Improving
Played about a mont ago and conditions much improved since then. Greens good but a little slow. Fairways generally fine except for a few holes. Bunkers are out — graound under repair.
Hard times
Fox Run used to be the premiere course of the 3 difference 18 hole courses at Kenton County golf courses. This course has fallen on hard times. The lack of course maintenance is very sad to see. This course used to be beautiful years ago. None of the sand traps have been maintained. They were mostly over grown weeds. One trap had standing water in it with 1000+ tadpoles. Most of the greens were okay with only a few burned out spots. Every other fairway was nice. The price to play the course was reduced from what it was years ago. I guess to off set the bad course conditions. I do not recommend this course until they work on getting it in better shape.
Horrible course
The golf course is in horrible shape. The greens are torn up, the fairways are okay, but the grass just off of the fairways is over grown. Very disappointing. I doubt that we will return.
Conditons Just OK
This conditions of this course have varied tremendously over the years. When in great shape there is no place better in Greater Cincinnati but in the past few years they have let conditions go quite a bit. Sad to see. Fairways are still in decent shape for most of the holes -- a few of them are getting spotty. Some of the greens are good and the others just ok. Rough is not being maintained as much. Bunkers are not being maintained any more and would be played as ground under repair -- they should just turn them into grass bunkers. Driving range is closed so use the driving range at clubhouse. If you can get a good price $ deal (and they have lots of those) and like the layout it is still worth playing but if you were expecting the course of 5 years ago you'll be disappointed. Pace of play is great as there is not as much play there any more.
Back Course
The course is challenging. It is the course in the back so it takes a bit to drive back to it, but it was fun was it was an easy pace and enjoyed being relaxed.
Should sell
Terrible conditions, cart paths are horrible,no refreshments, they put all there money into. New parking lot, should just close the whole 3 c ourselves, should be free to play, carts were really dirty.
