Fun Course with Some TLC Needed
I enjoyed this course. It's hilly with a few flatter holes. The hilliness makes club choices even more important than usual, and it took me a few holes to figure this out. Once I did, I played better and the outing became more enjoyable. The carts have GPS,. with is a definite plus. The pace of play was somewhat slow, but this was because there were a lot of folks playing that day, which is understandable, and patience was required. Staff was okay. Not a big pro-shop, but well organized. Driving range is strictly "mats only." Tee boxes and fairways were in very good condition, but the greens were not. EVERY green needed ALOT of TLC, perhaps even complete ado-over--their condition definitely hampers putting. I assume their very poor condition was due to weather conditions over the season. The layout of the course itself is quite interesting and added to the fun, despite the poor condition of the greens. A few blind drives, doglegs, and uphill and downhill shots. Some tight fairways, lots of little creeks and high, dense grassy areas over which to hit (or into which to lose your ball). Once the greens are restored, this becomes a four-star course, IMHO. At the moment, I would still recommend the course to others, because playing it was a fun and challenging experience.
Unplayable Greens
The course is short but don’t let the yardage fool you.
Almost every tee shot forces you to decide which shot you are more comfortable with. The desired leave from the tee box and ideal approach to the green, is almost always met with increased risk from the tee box.
Didn’t really seem like anyone (especially the starter) seemed to be very thrilled to be there today. That being said, maybe a beverage cart would boost the morale around the golf course. It certainly would have boosted mine today! If you’re not going to have a cart out., then signs toward the clubhouse need to be clearly marked for golfers making the turn!
All that being said…. The greens are completely unplayable. If you play the course, I would just focus on ball striking, because these mud patched greens will not help your putting stroke. This course will certainly test your decision making, and ball striking. If the greens were even almost playable it could be an interesting place to play.
Needs work.
Used to love this course was usually in decent shape and best price compared to nearby courses. Went today 9/8 and greens were in awful shape, bumpy spotty, slow…fairways weren’t any better. Even saw them watering a couple holes that were already damp in the middle of the day (2:30p) while it’s 88 outside
Greens damaged by severe heat around time of aeration. Otherwise, fairways were in excellent condition.
Horrible Greens
I cannot recall the last time I played a course with such horrible greens. Patchy, weedy and sometime just dirt. It looked like they recent aerated, and to be fair, we got hit with a lot of rain lately. They will not recover any time soon.
All the makings of a great course.
I’ve played this course 8 times. 50% of the time the course is great. The other 50% is a different story. The greens all look like they have cancer. The rough is extremely deep. If you miss the fairway by 2 feet you may not find your ball. The bunkers are pretty bad. Very hard and retain water like a swimming pool. The fairways, on the other hand, are always trimmed nicely. The carts are great. The staff is very friendly. I don’t recommend this course at this time but it’s usually good in the fall and early spring.
Great course layout but Greens are in terrible shape right now
I played this course several times during late spring and it was in great shape - the tee boxes and fairways are in great shape - the greens are terrible. Aeration was done but it’s taking some time for them to come back in - a lot of dirt patches on the greens. The course is playable but be aware the greens are not that great. I am sure this fall it will be back. I love the lay out very challenging course. The staff is great too.
Greens need TLC
Overall the course was in good playing condition. Several tee boxes were mostly crabgrass and the greens were slow and in need of improvement with bare spots and poor grass surface. The bunkers were mostly hard packed sand and needed to be raked prior to play on a given day. The course layout is very tight at places. The pace of play was slow with wait times on most tee boxes; no jarshallsvwere evident to help speed play.
Very nice course.
Actually, a very nice course. Putting green condition needs some improvement on a number of holes. But not terrible. I plan to play this course more.
