"Approach" shot on 13 from middle of "fairway". You have to hit through or around the power poles from 250 out Photo submitted by DrOldSchool on 11/21/2012
The course was in great shape but most of the sand traps were in poor condition.
The course has several dog legs on it, so choosing the correct club of the tee and hitting the correct shot is critical on some holes.
Maple Run Review
The course has a nice lay out and is pretty well maintained except for the back 9 tee boxes. I really enjoy playing this course! I will definitely be back!
Nice course when there is enough rain. Some places may dry out if irrigation is needed.
The course has very nice terrain. It seems that some holes on the back are not as well maintained (including paths) because equipment can't over the bridges. Very welcoming staff.
My over all surmmary was good. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 8.5.
This is a hard course for a high handicape golfer. I don't think
there is a flat green on the whole course. Many dog-leggs, and from some tee boxes you can't see the greens, however, I like the course. From the price I received from golfnow, this was a very good deal. I will definitely play this course again. The golf cart are gas and we had to keep pushing the primer to get the carts to move. This course is tricky and the greens are fast, you have to play this course a few times to get used to it. Gary M.
Super friendly staff, course great for money
I was unable to make my tee time with the GolfNow certificate and staff was eager to accommodate me. The front nine of the course was in excellent shape. Three holes on the back nine, through the woods, needed some attention on the fairways. Altogether a pleasurable experience.
Great staff good value
Love the value you get for this course, well maintained greens were in great condition.
Very pleasant layout!
Great views and challenging greens! Nice length of course for my game.
Great course. Go play it you'll be glad you did.
Don't let the modest rates fool you. This course is challenging and the grounds are in great shape. Offers something for golfers of every skill level.
Dont Do It
Just played Maple Run today. The course was in horrid condition. There was debris everywhere and seldom seemed as if anyone truly cared about the conditions from the teebox to greens. I do not think that I will be returning to play a round here anytime soon. With golf being such a great game its sad to see a course maintained as poorly as this one was.
The course was fun for a novice like me!
Great for novices. Got there Sunday morning, and was out in less than 4 hours. A little far from everything, but still had great time. I would recommend for anyone in area.
good for the money
good course for the money. cheap, not very busy, beautiful scenery. course isnt long, but still is challenging, especially if you have never played it. the greens are small, elevated and undulated. the bunkers are not good, but everytime i go there, it looks like the course itself is progressing. i did have a bad expierance there once, where an employee claiming to be the managers brother gave me a very hard time with the cost of play, i was told one thing and he tried to charge me another.
Best Value in MD
Open but challenging. Great people, a fun course at a super price.
Nightmare
The golf course should be closed due to conditions. No tee boxes, No signs. I repaired 10 divots in each greens. No driving range, old carts. I played 9 holes and quit.
This course makes you feel relaxed.
I normally play at this course with my wife. My wife is a beginner and likes this course because this course is not busy. Because it is not busy, we have enough time to practice. The course is in good condition, although the rate is low. This course is a place where you can enjoy golfing and be relaxed.
Front 9 ok. Back 9 horrible
Play the front 9. The back 9 is dumpy at best. The conditions are poor and you play a par 5 under power lines, and through the same lines on 3 other holes. The front is ok though, particularly for the price you get on here for a hot deal.
good deal
The course is lightly played, easy to get a tee time & a good deal. Staff very friendly.
great price
we played front nine twice because of slow play. course was in good shape. price was right.
Has potential
If they spent a little more money maintaining this course, it has the layout potential to be a nice course. However, the greens and fairways are often patchy, with dirt spots sprinkled throughout.
Tee boxes are in poor shape
My friend and I were looking to play an inexpensive round of golf and found a really good rate at Maple Run. The staff is friendly and helpful but the course itself is in need of a major overhaul. Most of the tee boxes are crabgrass and the dirt in them was hard packed. It was hard to tell the fairway from the rough when lining up tee shots as well. Some of the greens were in pretty bad shape and there is a bit of off-roading on the back 9 cart path wise. Overall I would not really make the trip back out there again, it is about an hour away from me, given the conditions even if it is a pretty inexpensive round of golf.
