Just full of nice surprises
Check in was a breeze and made better by being, unexpectedly directed to the practice area(does not show on listing)...irons and mid woods...no driving per se...chipping, sand, putting...what a joy to find this extra value...the course, was in tip top shape and would be an easy walk...not too much shade though and can help those with the slice/hook tendency...greens fast and true(just do look for the high points of each green and putt toward it whenever possible)...just a nice course...would and will look forward to playing here again...
Great course
Really enjoyed the round. Great course, fun layout, cool landscape and excellent greens.
Ok track. Horrible food and serious
Ok conditions. I played as a single and felt rushed by the double behind me, due to members not allowing me to play through. I decided to grab some food afterwards and waited over half an hour for a burger. When it finally it came, I received something microwaved. Hard to even call it a burger. It was disgusting. Ok course but there service and food makes it hard to come back.
A Real Golf Challenge
I used to drive by Halifax all of the time but never thought about playing the course. I was pleasantly surprised by it.
We played the blue tees, which was 6700 yards. That is longer than I am used to but there is a lot of room to keep it in play despite narrow fairways.
Not every hole is a driver hole, but will still demand a long second shot in. There also seemed to be a bunker on the left side at about 240-250 yards. This is problematic for a lefty hitting a cut.
The approach shots were more than fair which is good because they were often with mid to long irons. The par 3s were also long, one being 222 yards that day.
The greens are in really good shape. They are receptive but fast and sloped. Hills and grain matter. We all really struggled with speed.
This course could certainly be a good tournament prep/host. Some of the amateur events I play in bring about the same problems I had here.
Great Value, beautiful course
Halifax Country Club is a private course with some public tee times. I have played there a few times in the past year. Immaculate tee boxes, greens and beautiful fare ways. They give you free practice balls and supply water bottles around the course. Walking nine holes is $20. This is the best walking deal on the south shore. Highly recommended.
nice take
Excellent layout challenging for all levels of experience different tees to tear each level of experience. Only found the green side traps could use softer sand otherwise the course is in pristine
Condition and The staffIs very Accommodating . The longe and restaurant shanks is above average
Excellent Experience
First time to CCoH on Friday: terrific conditions, complementary range balls, chipping/putting area, 4 hour round, challenging layout requiring good tee shots. Definitely will return.
A jewel in country side
Course is beautiful so is drive to it. A short deep country drive in the off Boston. Going there was fun. Well designed well maintained course. One of the oldest in New England.
Come for the golf, not for the staff
The golf course is a good solid test of ball striking from the tips and the greens roll true. Of the 3 staff employees I encountered only the ranger would smile and say hello. Pro shop guy took my money and said - have a good one before the register even closed. Repeated it when I didn’t walk away right away. Starter who knew we weren’t members just said 4 hours when we teed off.
I’m spending my hard earned money to play golf, be a little friendlier.
Didn’t stay for food or drink after.
I Had Never Even Been In Halifax Before
First time I have played CC of Halifax and won"t be the last. Very nice course, with beautiful greens and fairways, rock stepped tee boxes, tree lined fairways and nice , trimmed shrubbery all through the course. Every course is extremely difficult for this soon to be 66 year old golfer. With slope ratings of 122 Gold, 127 White and 130 Blue it's plenty of course for anybody.Plenty of different, interesting holes with nice sand in the bunkers a few really nice water holes.. I highly recommend this course and will play it again. The staff were super nice. Put this one on your To Play list. Make sure you check out Shanks Restaurant after your round.
Decent course not a 4.5 star rating out of 5.
After reading several reviews I decided to drive over an hour to play Halifax. Overall it’s a good course. Many reviews talk about how it’s a private course feel and how the fairways were plush. I’ve played several private courses and I can honestly tell you it is far from private. The layout is challenging and the tee box’s were either very good or not. I wish people would be honest on here because some of us like to travel to experience nice courses. If I lived in the area I might play it again. I am a bit discouraged overall as this was my last round this year as I had back surgery and I should have played Pinehills instead. Oh well. Live and learn.
Fun course to play
The course is wet! VERY WET. In the fairway the water pools around your feet don't bother looking for relief for you would have to move 20yds plus. Some of the rough like a swamp. Greens fast fun and lots of slope. Cart path only. I will play this course when it dries out.
Nice layout, excellent greens
Early season round, so still some winter conditions but tee boxes and greens were terrific.
Country Club of Halifax
The course was in great shape although a little wet from the recent rain. The greens were very fast and one could only imagine how fast they will be during the hot days of summer. The course is not all that interesting, exciting or challenging but it's a perfectly enjoyable course to play, and reasonably priced, at least st this time of year.
