Great Course, Poor Decision
Loved the conditions. On the turn the club added 2 parties of 2 before us. Slowed us down considerably and the party behind us was hitting over us.
Good course
Well maintained. Water backs up on hole 10, length of the fairways is deceiving. Had a fun time playing this course.
One of the Best
Veterans Memorial Golf Course is one of the best municipal golf courses in Western Massachusetts and is always well-maintained, tee to green. The course has been recently softened by cutting back trees lining the narrow fairways, making the course play easier. The greens have been recently aerated, making putting a little slow. However, you can anticipate once the greens have grown back in quick and challenging putting. Veteran’s is a friendly course with an outstanding and helpful staff from the pro-shop to the 19th hole, along with an incredible group of cart girls patrolling the course providing cold beverages and snacks.
We played with punched greens, but the rest of the course was in great shape. We paid a cheaper price I’m guessing because of the greens, but we’d gladly pay more for when the course is in ideal shape.
Rough shape
Must have a new greenskeeper. Worst shape I've seen this course in ever.
Greens have seen better days
Greens were in the worst shape I've ever seen them in. Yes they were punched, however the greens have a ton of bare spots which I've never seen at this course. Hopefully they get on top of it .
Front 9 only
We played the course on a Tuesday morning, We signed up for 18 but only the front Nine was open. The putting greens were aerated and full of sand. We enjoy the course, but advance warning would have us play elsewhere.
Warning before you go
Our group should have been notified that the back nine was closed and we would have to play the front line 2 times. Also, we were not notified that the greens were aerated and covered with sand which made putting not too good. I was disappointed that they didn’t notify me Before playing . We could’ve picked another time to play. Ordinarily is closed as very nice. However, this time not so much.!
Tournament site?
I have conducted some friendly tournaments at this site with enjoyable results, but I did not come into the money!
Great condition
Haven’t played at Vets since the tornado and was very pleased with the course. The fairways and greens are in perfect condition.
