Greens were excellent!
Played my high school home course for 1st time in a decade. The greens rolled unbelievable truewhile being receptive but not soft. Lots of work done over the years to trim back many of the lower levels of bushes and underbrush. All the staff were friendly, play moved pretty well and it's still a course which rewards moving the ball right and left. It's just a solid, very playable, solid golf course.
Westover never disappoints
I always enjoy a round at Westover and this one was great - I was teamed up with three gentlemen who were welcoming and supportive. The conditions were as good as anywhere and the service on the course was top notch. Westover is one of the best public courses I have ever played.
Consistent good conditions
Good, reasonably long open course at a reasonable price. Superb coordination at the first tee ensures a well-timed even release of the tee times. No complaints at all.
Sold a reservation that was not available
This is a league course and I should have known better. But Westover and GolfNow both advertised an 18 hole booking and fully accepted a reservation. Only to get to the course and be told we can only play 9 holes due to league play. The gentleman at the desk, who was a gentleman and didn’t deserve my attitude, even knew “oh that’s one of the hot deals”! To which I replied yes it was. So he knows they market this to golf now and golf now now knows they are marketing something that’s plainly inaccurate. If GolfNow is to remain a valuable option for booking times they should have league schedules and should not be complicit in brazenly selling reservations that cannot be kept when golfers get to the course.
Solid Experience for the price
Booked my tee time about 4 days prior on Gold Now,having never played there before. Drove out from Albany. Staff was really friendly, and told me where everything was. Got some warm-up on the range (ball buckets are reasonably priced) and practice green. I'm not that good, so the course was slightly challenging, but not unmanageable. Using 18birdies, I was able to get the layout, and that helped with course management. I went out and a single, and got paired with 2 others. Pace of play got slow around hole 7, and we got backed up the rest of the day. When we hit the turn, we all enough time to run inside, hit the bathroom and grab some food/drinks, before the 4some in front of us even Reed off on 10. All 18 took about 5 hours.
I would play here again, but maybe a bit earlier in the day to try and beat some of the crowd.
Great Course
Hadn't played here i 45 years and the course was just as nice and challenging as I remember. The rough was punishing for bad shots as it should be and the fairways and greens were awesome. A side bnefit was watching the c-134 planes coming and going for touch and go landings. Amazing. Will definitely be back.
Solid New England golf course
Westover offers an excellent test of golf for all who enjoy using most of their clubs in the bag and like fast and true greens. The tee boxes, fairways and sand traps are in very good shape - especially considering the amount of heat the course has been exposed to this summer. And most importantly, the greens are fast and true. It's truly a course that has stood the test of time!
Long course in good shape
This course is great for letting it fly, long and generous landing areas. Very hot day, played under 3.5hrs (thanks to the 4-some for letting us play through).
They do a good job to keep this course playable, maintenance was out in force, getting ready for the rain next day.
Play it.
Course in great condition, good layout
All staff very friendly and helpful, greens, fairways, tees, even rough in very good condition, Rough is fair test, gnarly in places, fairway bunkers well placed, gave me too much experience, but fair test. Only played a few times but one of my favorite public courses in area
Great condition and fast greens
The course was in great condition; tees fairways and greens.
Long and Fun!
Nice long course with nice conditions. Played Westover tons of times and it never disappoints.
Long course, good shape.
This course plays long and it gives you a variety of shots to execute. Windy conditions make it challenging but fun to play. Overall in good shape. A little out of the way, but worth the drive.
Westover
