Terrible
Will never go back. Fairways are non existent, layout is unimaginative a 220 yard par 4 from the tips??? Have played 25 different courses this year and the staff here is by far the rudest I have encountered. Stay away!
Dog Track
Hadn't been here in a while, took my daughter for her first time. If thats what you're looking for it will do. They have a range, which is decent, no grass. The starters immediately reprimanded my daughter for not having her mask on, outside. We had prepaid and didn't need to go inside for any reason. They insisted that she get her mask to walk past them to the first tee. I've played 25 different courses since March and this hasn't been an issue especially when staying outside.
They got a lot of rain several months ago, but the condition of the fairways and tee boxes is absolutely laughable. Patches of grass, mostly crabgrass, exist amongst the hard dirt. The tee boxes are tiny, on slopes in spots and clearly are not tended to.
The greens are all that saves this place. While there are irrigation boxes on several greens, they are pretty quick, which I like, and ran pretty true.
If you don't care about hitting off of grass this place is perfect, because they don't have much of it. Wish I had ordered a transfusion at the bar to see the dumbfounded look in the bartenders face. Stay away.
Extremely poor conditions
Just as I read in previous reviews , the course was in HORRIBLE shape! The fairways were mud/dirt and weeds with branches strewn about. It’s looks like there is no maintenance. Worst course I’ve ever played at in 30 years. Went with my beginner 14 year old son and even he said he never wants to go back.
Country Club
Some of the worst conditions, I've ever seen. Arrived and let starter know my playing partner would be five minutes late. Then I went to check in at "Club House" When partner got there he came right to the tee box. Starter approached us and told us he was going to "Educate us" that you always have to check in at the club house first. Only reason I checked in with the started was because it was 3 minutes before we tee'd off and I wanted him to know we were there. Being that it was so close to our tee time, I didn't want to lose it.
So we go out on the course. Fairways are non-existent. Rocks EVERYWHERE. Doesn't matter if it's right down the middle, there are rocks. We were paired up with a gentleman who was miles above our skill level. We let him play through. He joined the group in front of us so there were 5 in the group. The pace was the slowest I've seen.
We make the turn and the ranger came up and told us the carts have to be back, and that the starter should've told us that. So we got 14 in before the sun went down. Ranger was extremely polite and nice to let us play through. All in all, would not recommend. Worst of the Sterling golf courses by far. Can't understand how people pay to be members here.
Runway C.C.
Every hole is the same, wet, soggy, smelly & uncut! This is a god forsaken hellhole of a golf course! The only positive attribute is if a small plane has engine trouble, they can land on any of the holes, as they are all identical
Simple course to learn golf and have fun
This course is for a high to mid handicapper looking for a stress free round of golf. It’s not challenging and the layout is mediocre. Conditions are poor. It’s either muddy or dried out. But you can get a tee time easily and it’s casual. $56 is a little steep for what you get but it’s simple and I enjoy it. The range is great. The prices at the bar are good. You can drive the carts all over the fairways pretty much. The carts are fast too. Just a decent place to play 18 when you’re learning golf or want to keep it simple.
Staff was incredibly rude and self centered
Just don’t understand how you can book 18 holes, get through the first minute and expect you to wait over an hour to play behind a league. If you only have nine holes to offer you should only charge for nine holes . When we talked to ranger he was very rude and just simply said I don’t know what to tell you it is what it is. Don’t recommend this course to anyone ever
Don't play if not a "Hot Deal"
I paid 35 dollars to walk 18 holes and for that price it was worth it. But if youre paying any more i wouldnt play here.
- They book their tee times about 6 minutes apart so you will be running into the group ahead of you with the group behind you waiting all day.
- The tee boxes are often very dry and very uneven surfaces.
- The "fairways" aren't really fairways. They're very poorly maintained and mostly just dried grass and dirt patches intermittently leaving no decernable fairway in most holes, youre often better being in the second cut to not be hitting off straight dry ground.
- The greens have dry and dirt patches on most greens with some having the other two hole locations not properly filled and some ever having a huge hole from a sprinkler head in the green leaving what might as well be a hazard.
- It is absolutely not an expert or exclusive course and the fairways are very close together so most holes you will have at least someone from a group on another hole on your fairway.
- To get from the 9th to the 10th hole you have to cross back over the big parking lot to go behind the hotel it shares a lot with.
- It has a driving range but I arrived prior to my round to practice and it ate my token and provided no balls.
- It also does have two putting greens that are the best maintained greens in the course.
Overall for what I paid I got what I expected. But if youre going to pay good money I'd suggest looking elsewhere as there are other courses in the area for the same or better price that will give you a better experience.
Soggy Course and Unfriendly Staff
Booked on GolfNow. Paid with cart. Got there... no cart. Course was soggy and beat up. Staff didn't seem friendly and made us feel unwanted. 1st and last time playing here. Highly recommend staying away
