July 4th
Course in good shape. Busy day but weather was good and didn’t have to wait too much on most holes.
Nice Course- No Push on League Groups
Round took almost 3 hours to play 9 holes on a weekday. League groups in front were awfully slow and saw a ranger on #3 but not again the rest of the evening. Pace of play side, solid course and value for price. Already booked another round here.
Greens
The course was in wonderful shape, and the greens were in perfect shape. Very nice to put on fast and true greens!
Pace of play for first nine was average. Pace for second nine was the slowest I have ever played. Spent over30 minutes on a par five waiting for the foursome in front of us. No rangers making people keep pace, unacceptable!!!!
Love it
Played eagle before but not Falcon, reminds me up up north golf , my new local favorite!
Challenging for Intermediate Golfer
Absolutely loved this course - played the “hawk” and it was well kept with good pace of play. Hole design was moderately difficult for the average golfer, yet very fun. Green speed was much faster than other local courses I’ve played. Fairways, rough & tee boxes all well manicured by the maintenance staff. Golf carts were newer and well kept.
Reasonably priced for how nice the course was, will definitely be back in the future.
Another Course Bites the Dust
It is with sadness I add one of my once favorite local golf courses to the DO NOT PLAY list. Pine Knob Golf Course in Clarkston, MI. 3 9-hole courses (Eagle, Hawk, Falcon). Five times so far this year I’ve had to walk off in the middle of a round due to pace of play. The final straw was this weekend. FOUR foursomes at a time waiting to tee off with groups in the fairway and on the green. The Marshall himself told me “We can’t control the pace of play. It’s not what the owner wants.” It was painful watching people abuse the course by not replacing divots, not repairing ball marks, and driving next to the green. Even tire tracks from a cart ON a green all the way across. The golf cart attendants said they weren’t surprised at all and it’s like that all the time, and they have to hear complaints all day long. The pro shop attendant took down my name and number and said she would have the owner call me. Guess who never called? Very sad that this once very nice course has become just another run of the mill course trying to make as much money as possible from the golf craze created by the pandemic as it’s one of the only things people could do last summer. GOLF AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Good Course
Played here because there was Men’s League at Oakhurst that night...good value, would definitely play again!
