Nice greens and fairways
Very nice fairways and greens. I enjoyed the coarse as there is some water that comes into play on some of the tee shots. The greens were consistent as far as speed, but difficult to read as the grain direction really seemed to influence the putts.
Beautiful Course
We played the Eagle and the Falcon. They are both really scenic. Conditions are excellent and the greens are very fast (as evidenced by my numerous 3 putts).
Unfortunately, we were stuck behind a slow foursome for the entire 18 holes. It took us over 5 hours. Ranger was around a couple times per nine but didn’t appear to ask the group in front of us to pick up their play.
Great course. Will definitely go back but perhaps not on a Saturday morning.
Trouble in Paradise.
I've played golf at Pine Knob for over 25 years and every experience I have had there has been exceptional. Today was a different story I was in a foursome and had a threesome playing in front of me. The threesome continued to play two balls off the tee on many of the holes. They not only slowed my play down they slowed down the play of every group behind me. The group behind me drove a ball that narrowly missed me by five or six feet. The course Rangers were helpful but unfortunately they did not push the pace enough. They were notified of the slow play however they stated they could not find the threesome that was playing directly in front of me. Then on the turn for the back nine they inserted a twosome in front of my group and behind the slow playing threesome that plagued my first nine holes. It took three hours to play the first nine holes. The second nine holes were not that much better that took two hours in 45 minutes. I know it's a holiday Sunday, however that is all the more reasons why the course ranges have to be diligent and move the groups around the course. I will never play on a holiday weekend unless it's at a private club.
Pine knob golf course
First time there, great course!! Tough greens!! Great hot dogs, and they serve them with Grey Poupon!! LOL!! Is it worth $+$50.00......ehh. No, but the drink and food prices were reasonable!! One trade off for another. Didn't see the beer cart girl Until the eighth hole on the front nine and non-exsistant on the back.
The course was immaculate though. If you can get a deal, go!
Bad communication
It was hard to give it 4 stars. Rough was indeed rough but fairways and greens were good. Problem was pace of play . Two twosomes ahead not paired up but nowhere to go. Front took 3hrs and when we made the turn there was a group that came from nowhere on the box. There was a group in the fairway and one on the green. All came from nowhere. Went back to clubhouse and found out they started a league on the back.
They were kind enough to give us a rain check for nine but my intention was to play 18. Won't ever play here in the afternoon again. Maybe the third 9 should be a priority for people making the turn on League days.
Challenging course but lots of fun.
I play here more than anywhere. They keep improving including all new carts with USB ports. They’re working hard to be the best.
Gorgeous Course
Absolutely beautiful course. We shot the Eagle and Falcon. Hands down one of the best courses around. Fairways were in great shape. Greens were true. Tough pin placements forced each of us to step up our short game. Pace of play was slightly better than ok but that was due to a foursome two groups ahead re-teeing on every tee box.
Golf carts are newer with USB ports. Beverage cart was around often. Driving range is honestly one of the best around.
Overall, Pine Knob is an absolutely gorgeous course. Extremely well maintained and the staff was super friendly. I would recommend Pine Knob to ANYONE looking for a nicer track. Highly recommend playing here.
First Time.
Definitely would check the course out again. Felt a little rushed from the group behind, finished in 2hr 15 mins for 9. Definitely recommend hitting the clubhouse before you head out if you want anything in the morning.
