Brookside Golf Course
About
Nestled in the gently rolling hills of Gowen, Brookside Golf Course has a tranquil, peaceful location that is ideal for a round of golf. The course opened in 1963 and has been locally owned and operated ever since. The golf course measures to a manageable 6,100 yards from the back tees, a seemingly short course by modern standards. Though it may not be what you're looking for if you want a truly formidable championship course but it provides a good and affordable round of practice. The front nine is slightly less demanding than the back. Overall Brookside Golf Course is gentle enough for beginners with a few strategically placed bunkers to make it challenging. There is also a meandering stream that wanders across a few of the holes.

Terrible experience
short course, but "all the pins" were set 6 feet or less from the edge of the green on the short side. Greens are a joke. Imagine how that slowed the pace of play. Myself and partner are single digit handicappers and 7 times we hit good shots from less than 100 yards and made double. Don't waste your time. We paid $17 and it was $17 too much.
Horrible course!
This course was in horrible condition! I would not recommend to anyone! The greens were all tore up, fairways had not been mowed! They must have had a huge outing the night before and never cleaned up from it! There was a hole that had 9 flags on the green. Which one do you choose? The pin placement in the greens were s joke! There was no ranger on the course to move groups along....at one point we had 4 groups backed up at the tee box! I called the clubhouse and they said well maybe the group will let you play through.....really! Did you not hear me....there are 4 groups in front of us on the tee box, sure I just pass all of them! Duh!!!
Brookside Golf
I enjoy playing this course, though at times I find some of the golfers inconsiderate - standing on greens talking or just sitting on carts in front of greens. The course always seems to be kept in good repair and it has enough challenges to keep me interested and focused.
great value
Course was in great shape. Pace of play was great once we played through a slow three-some.
Incredible value for what we paid on GolfNow.
brookside
we paid a low, low price of $10 to play this outstanding gem. try it, you will like it.
Worth the drive
A mix of easy and hard holes. Real nice shape. Staff is friendly. Will definitely play this course again
Good Fair Course! Some Unusual greens!
Had a great day at the course! Played 18 and preferred the course and scenery on the back 9 a little more than the older front nine.
Nice affordable scenic golf course with some challenging holes and greens
I had a very relaxing round of golf. Pace of play was comfortable and not too pushy either.
Great deal.
It's a short course with surprisingly decent greens. We got 6 holes in before a scramble came out and forced us onto other holes. Staff was great and dealt with it well.
Pleasant course
This course is fairly easy, and probably good for beginners. I would suggest that beginners play the front 9 though. The back 9 is a little tighter with a few tough holes. The back also features some nice, interesting holes. If you wanna make a bunch of birdies and maybe an eagle, come out here!
a nice value
Decent front nine , older style, small green. Very nice newer back nine.

A favorite coudrse
I signed up on internet. Saved money. This course should not have been open to public on that date. It was being used by High School girl's golf team. I seemed to be only adult playing that day. The girls were terrible. Very, very slow. No idicate at all being taught by coaches. No attempt to let me play thorugh and even if I did there were more slow girls ahead of that group. Should have just told me the course was closed. No mention of this going on until I got there (20 mile drive) and found out there were a hundred cars in the parking lot. Stupid.
Greens
Course in good shape except for the greens. Seems they had some kind of blight, tough putting sometimes.
Shorter course with some bite
Some strange design features at this course. Back-to-back par threes and par fives. Greens are small compared to today's standards and have sloped edges where the ball will roll off. You will have several blind shots where local knowledge will help you immensely. We paid $12.50 plus the surcharge to play, so it was worth it.
Great Course
Hopefully this was not an average pace of play. Otherwise, this was a jewel. I will go back.
Home course made a new
I grew up on this course back in the 60s and 70s. It always served as an adequate facility. What Jeff Gorney has done to it has made it a treasure. The greens are big and always cut nicely, but not shaved. Fairways are open and playable but still have a challenge. Hole number 11 is the signature hole in my mind, as nice a whole as there is in the state. I fear this course will be discovered and won't be as accessible as it is now.
fun! fun! fun!
The course is not long but it has a great look all around and there was plenty of trouble to get into if wanted. The greens on the front are small and undulated to make up for the short hole lengths. The back nine appears to be a newer layout so it was nice to have the variety of newdesign versus old design.
I was very happy to play here and had much fun in the process. Will for sure return there some day and GN made the price so right it was amazing.
Challenging but not discouraging
Good course especially for the hot deal I got for it. Greens are fast I couldn't stop a ball on the green to save my life and watch out for hole 12, hardest hole on the course by far.
challenging yet "playable" for all skill levels.
My wife and I are seniors and also new golfers. Brookside is a very picturesque and well maintained course. We found the experience met and exceeded our expectations. We purchased a cottage in the area earlier in the year and will definitely golf at Brookside regularly (Lord willing).
