Great value
Course was in good shape overall. Tee boxes could use a little attention, but the layout is fun and the setting is really nice. Not a top-tier course, but for the price on a weekend it’s an excellent value and worth playing
Great course mates
Our 3 group and a 4 some in front of us let a single play through and then the 4 some let us play through. Huge rarity these days. Great group of guys. Guess it's better to govern yourselves on these courses rather than have staff coordinate anything to keep pace up.
Etiquette basics
The golf course was in very good shape for as dry as the weather has been. This is an old school tightly lined with plenty of trees kind of course. Tight enough to have sliced or hooked shot not uncommonly in the wrong hole fairway. I'll mention i didnt have to duck and cover once but was always at the ready. It will not have enough length for the young bombers. There some original old holes and some more modernized holes sprinkled throughout. The greens are in great shape, so to speak, other than some basic golfer etiquette is or was not observed. Unfixed pitch marks. Heavy feet scuffing up the grass and not sure if someone was wearing soccer, baseball of football shoes but on every hole it was the same couple of people wrecking the grass. Made me very unhappy for the course owners or superintendent because they would be in perfect condition otherwise. It's a shame there are just clueless golfers out there. Enough of the gripe session. The course has a good driving range for warmup or practice and I the restaurant is great with good food, a pond view and overall relaxing. I go back every year to play a round or two. I would consider more of a good bargain course, so be patient and don't expect too much.
Closest, cheapest around with history and character
This is now what I consider my home course with my wife. Only because number one it is close about 15 minutes away and definitely with the deals we get on teeoff the cheapest around by far. I have been coming here since 1991 so now 32 years And even brought my daughters here to play 30 years ago. It went from a nine hole course to a 18 hole course about 1996 I believe. The family that originally owned the Pierce family or hands-on great people and had a nice restaurant for a very fair price.
I do not know who owns it now but I believe some company from the Detroit area from what I have heard and they are keeping it pretty much the same with very minor improvements and very little re-investment in the condition of the course. The best aspect of the courses The greens are very good. There is character here with the tight three line fairways which demands very straight drive so it is good for your game to keep the ball straight but the ultimate two reasons why we come here so often is the proximately or closest to our house and the low price as we get on tee off. This year it is up to about 14 $14 per player and quite frequently we get $10-$20 off rewards from tee off which sometimes we pay four dollars each which is crazy. Do not come here to expect super great things but with all the positive things I have mentioned that far outweighs the course up the street which is now charging close to $100 do you know which one I’m talking about cannot afford that anymore. Sorry
GolfNow broke again
Once again I can’t play them through GolfNow’s site. They can’t seem to keep it working one season. The course and Golfnow blame each other and they can’t even book hot deals on the phone. The course tells me they are dumping golf now due to this.
Good value
Very old school course. Small greens, lots of trees and probably the most narrow fairways I have ever played made for a challenging day. The tee boxes were not in the best of shape but the greens were fast and true. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would play again but if you are a person who sprays the ball around be prepared for spending time searching the woods. Good value for the money.
Bang for the buck!
First time playing and it was a late September, mid-day round on a Thursday. It wasn't busy and I got right out as a single and got around 18 in just under two hours.
Seemed to be a bit of a goofy layout on a couple of holes (in terms of finding the next tee box). Goose droppings could have been better attended to, but that's probably more a case of bad shots by me. Ha!
First time playing this course and I will absolutely be back!
Anniversary golf
PRICE WAS GREAT pace of play, way to slow with no ranger to speed up play. Tee boxes rough. Greens ok and did hold. Pretty tough , must be accurate with driver
Restaurant closed, on a Friday, big disappointment. Golf now rate great! go play it, fun course, it's worth more than what you paid for
Nice course for the money. It would be nice to have signs to direct you to the next hole. It is somewhat confusing on which way to go
