Brookside Golf Course
About
Nestled in the gently rolling hills of Gowen, Brookside Golf Course has a tranquil, peaceful location that is ideal for a round of golf. The course opened in 1963 and has been locally owned and operated ever since. The golf course measures to a manageable 6,100 yards from the back tees, a seemingly short course by modern standards. Though it may not be what you're looking for if you want a truly formidable championship course but it provides a good and affordable round of practice. The front nine is slightly less demanding than the back. Overall Brookside Golf Course is gentle enough for beginners with a few strategically placed bunkers to make it challenging. There is also a meandering stream that wanders across a few of the holes.

Disappointing greens
Fairways are nice, greens in rough shape. Grille not open on a holiday weekend. Very busy front nine. Wife and I asked to play the back. It was wide open, told no. Don't see us going back.
Upset Patrons.
Staff was great. Course was fun. Reachable par 4’s with small greens to protect the low score. Course got a little backed up due to an early morning scramble. Fine by me, it was a beautiful Friday. They say a bad day of golf is better than a good day at work: Everything was good until I accidentally hit into the group in front of us. (First time) apparently it was the 4th to them: I saw a group of carts head towards the green on a par five and was playing the tips. I hit my ball and sailed it down the fairway only to realize that there might have been a group still in play. Of course here they come, back over the hill to which I could not see them. at which point one cart did come all the way back to the box and I was approached quite aggressively by a patron. I apologized. Let them continue. They were having a bad day because they were waiting so much and were bored apparently they skipped the last few holes of their 9 and left. I went to look for my ball which I knew would be nowhere to be found, took my gallery drop, set it on the green and knocked down the eagle putt. Can’t rattle this guy on a beautiful day.
Improve ments
They are making some of the greens bigger...much needed. 13th needs work a. Hill of a green .small.
More and more improvements every time I golf here
They keep working on little things at this golf course, which is good to see making it a lot more enjoyable. Oh, they finally refilled the sand trap in front of the green on the second hole. I’m putting up a little approved tea boxes, calling Internet, trimming trees, making some tight holes little bit more, easier to negotiate and putting in some ““ curb appeal with some Belgian blocks here and there on the tea boxes. I just kind of nice little improvements, so so is the fact that I scored another fantastic deal it was just so cheap on GolfNow that it was almost frills, put it that way, so with my golf pass points and so forth Actually put it on a nice cool Monday, July 1 and got hooked up with a nice older couple who are members there on the back nine it was quite slow and busy but that’s understandable holiday week coming up, so yeah I recommend the course it’s not excessively long but if you pull it from the tips, the blues, which I did this time it’s Scott Scott challenge for long headers. Don’t let it for you and lotta character so I’ll see you again.
More and more improvements each time I come here
Every time I come and play here there are several improvements it’s been about six weeks and the labor force here is very good potentially make a nice little provement I like the layout and I enjoy the challenge from the blue tees greens are good fairways are OK and they’re improving the sand traps and a lot of other Teebox improvements so for the price I paid was ridiculously low with my GolfNow Call pass points. It was almost ready let’s just put it that way, so yeah I would play it.
Pace of play was horrible
They have unannounced member tournaments on the weekend. Would have been nice to know when booking online. The two foursomes ahead of us were members playing two balls each the entire 18 holes. Almost 6 hours to complete the round. Terrible pace of play and no rangers to keep things moving.
Good
Good overall and best deal for 18 by far. Greens were slow but acceptable.
Kind of challenging
Course in pretty good shape for early spring greens in good shape
Thanks Golfnow, $42 for 3 on Sat morning
My buddy and I played here on Friday, April 5 because the deals are so good on tee off and we had already a teatime for Saturday, April 6 for three of us my buddy and my wife and I for $42 on a Saturday which is unheard of less than $15 each. The golf now app is saving us a lot of money thankfully because prices are starting to get out of hand most places.
They are doing a lot of work on this course, but there would be a very easy improvement for not a lot of money. I thought the sand traps were much better last year, but they are pretty bad now again All it would take us a Nice Rick job or a little more new sand send to make the traps more attractive. Some of the traps are old traps that should be filled in and planting new grass seed on top or clean them up and make them what they’re supposed to be like, for instance, on hole number two.
Well my wife and I have played it twice and I have played it three times so far this year so we’re going to give Brookside a little break for a while because I’m thankful to find out that links of Bowen lake is back on golf now, so we’re going to keep everybody in business You got to save money when you can and the investment in golf pass has really paid off dividends
Making improvements, $10 32 oz Bloody Mary!
I’ve played this course now probably at least a dozen times over the last four years. I’ve been living in this area 30+ years but took 2028 years to play the scores for some reason. The course is self has a really kind of a cool layout up and down through the woods, lots of character and they are starting to make some good improvements to the course cutting down a lot of trees and making it more playable. We got a great deal on Geoff wife and I and with today’s prices ever escalating we have to look for a good deal so far this year, I’m not saying Links of Bowen lake on tee off, so unfortunately played that course a lot last year just down the street from the scores this course.
We played on Wednesday, which was an awesome beautiful 68° no wind just a glorious day and the place was packed mostly retirees like myself, but we didn’t care. We still played under four hours And thing I had a nice big, bloody Mary we were enjoying the gorgeous weather. The greens are in good shape and the course has lots of character like I said, and the price was good. Most of these local courses are really getting out of hand with the pricing if you’re talking close to 50 bucks or more per person it’s hard for a retired couple to go out and spend 100 bucks each time , unfortunately it’s starting to prices out of the game, but will continue to look for deals.
