Gold/Red at Bello Woods Golf Course

I herd the place was closing...should all ready be closed...... 3 hours for 9 holes.... soggy and wet .... cart path only....... but no cart paths....... paid for 18 and quit after 9

A city course feel with fairways next to each other and a few tee boxes close to the prior green. Expect to dodge a few shots from other golfers. This would be a great course for a beginner or double digit handicap player. The yardage isn't long and the greens can be reached even if there is an errant tee shot. During my round, I managed to drive the green twice. I would have rated this course higher, however, 2 of the holes were unplayable due to the entire fairway being a sponge. It looks like it happens often since the cart paths are lined with ropes to keep the carts off the lawn. My drive got swallowed by the earth.

Ive played this course quite a few time during the summer and i would normally rate this a pretty decent course but ive golfed here twice now in the fall and its been absolutely horrible. No effort what so ever in managing the leaves. Grass was long on the fairway and the rough. The greens normally are pretty good and they were absolute garbage with dirt and leaves everwhere.

Pretty easy course . Plays much shorter than score cards indicate by 25-35 yrds . Very nice greens and pace of play is excellent and the price was excellent.

Lost multiple balls in the middle of the fairway under a ludicrous amount of leaves.

Just an average municipal course. Some water, thick fairways.

We chose to play Bello Woods because it was one of the only course in the area open with carts after a very wet week of rain. Considering the conditions the course was in decent shape, and for the price it couldn't be beat.

Course conditions were not great, but paid $20 less than most other courses in the area. Greens were actually pretty decent, fairways and tee boxes need some work. Course was not busy, so pace of play was nice.

I'm all for a $22 round but Bello Woods is in pretty bad shape. The greens are just ok. Most roll pretty well but were not in great condition. Ridiculous pin placements made some holes feel gimmicky like a putt putt course. Fairways are terrible, spotty and full and weeds. Despite any lack of direction from the club house and the abscence of a course ranger we were able to play the round in just over four hours. Thank goodness. The smell coming from whatever they were spraying was overwhelming and they had an open fire burning behind the maintenance building. The carts were well past their prime.. uncomfortable to ride especially when first accelerating . The only reason i would consider returning is because of the price and proximity to my house.

So I booked this course on Golf now for a $22 rate and when I arrived they charged me $30? The course was by far one of the worst courses I have ever played in Michigan. Even though i have played some pretty cheap courses I.E the Hamptons. The greens where is very rough shape, carts in the same shape, very slow play so I didn't even finish my round. other than the cart girl I didn't see anyone from the course doing anything, and she was around every 3rd hole. If i didn't know any better i would say this will be the last season this place is open. For these reason's I will never go back, even for the golf outing I previously paid for here in September to support a local hockey team.

This is a cow pasture with pins. It's not a golf course. To call it a golf course is a slap in the face to golfers everywhere. First off, pace of play is a joke. 6somes and 8somes scattered all over. Next is the layout. Straight, straight, straight. Every hole with exception of maybe one or two run next to each other. That makes it interesting, not for shot selection... But for dodging the errant shots from other golfers. Don't expect to hear "fore" either. It's a shooting gallery out there. Last is the condition of this place. It's a wasteland. Can't distinguish the rough from the, dare I call it this... Fairway. It's anything but a fairway. Riddled with bare dirt patches, the grass is long, almost as long as the rough. The "greens" are tiny and seem like they're never cut. Avoid this place at all costs. Ignore the shockingly good reviews. How it even has 3 stars is beyond me. If there were an option, I would have given it zero stars. Pay the extra money and play a real golf course. Wouldn't play here again if they paid me.

Bello Woods GC is fun! It is not the best course I ever played but, it is one of most enjoyable ones I've play and play again. It is non pretentious and I love that. Nice greens, rough fairways (playable), and enjoyable distant nines (there is three: Gold, Red, White) White is the original and the Gold is the coolest i think, it is like playing up north. Red has the signature hole the 6th. Give Bello a try, it is worth a look if you golf to have fun and relax on a day off.

Course isn't very challenging and is relatively short. Great course for a quick solo round that you want to use as a practice round and play a few extra balls from various spots. Greens are always slow and obviously only cut once or maybe twice a week. Biggest complaint is that it is very poorly marked (yardage markers and hole signs can be off by as much as +/-50 yards), so if you are an accurate shooter, plan on bringing a GPS or range finder.

I think the grass has a disease. It was very splotchy. The fairways and rough were undistinguishable.

The condition of the course is absolutely horrible. It looks as if they have not watered in weeks. The ground was so hard that it looked like every shot bounced off the cart path. The hole positions were put in the worst places possible. I booked a time for 2, and was told when I got there that they just had 4 groups go out, so I would need to wait about 20-30 minutes. This is a common theme as last time we played there, there was a 14 cart lineup to tee off. It was overall a bad experience.

If you're looking for a cheap round and don't care much about the course itself, this place is a great value. For being a beginner, this was a good course because each hole is pretty much dead straight. The grass and cart paths need to get a little more attention. Staff was very friendly and service was great. Overall, a good experience.

Can't beat bello woods for the price you pay. Fairways need some repair or watering. But the heat probably doesn't help.
