Lakes of the North - Deer Run Golf Course

Great course, beautiful condition, thanks for the deal.

The greens were in impeccable shape. Fairways were in good shape. Cart paths are in good shape. Challenging course but forgiving enough to make it fun. The “ball boys” were a little grouchy. But it was hot out. Hector the Ranger was awesome.

Great course with great conditions. Greens were consistent and fast.

Fun for friendly competition with open layout on front and more links style back nine!

Had a teatime at 8 o’clock and everything was going fine for the first couple holes. Then the two guys in front of me were slow the rest of the round and would not let me play through. When I got onto the back nine one of the employees that was buffing The green kept running up on me as I was trying to putt with his lawnmower and taking the flag out before I even got off the green, which I thought was pretty rude.

This is a great course tucked away in the woods just outside of Mancelona. Not too far from Shanty Creek and it’s 5 beautiful but high priced courses you can find great conditions, outstanding value and a fun layout at Lakes of the North. Well maintained tee boxes and greens are a big deal to me and this course has both. Also has several restrooms and water stations located throughout the course. The course is playable without being over challenging. I highly recommend working it in to your northern Michigan golf weekend.

I have to admit that we were a two some but when you have a four some pushing you every hole, it’s slow play. The primary reason for my 3 stars though was that the course was very bland on most holes. Very straight, wide fairways, no imagination and vey little undulations (except for the greens which I found pleasantly challenging.)
