Nice course with open layout
Fun for friendly competition with open layout on front and more links style back nine!
Good but!!!!
Had a teatime at 8 o’clock and everything was going fine for the first couple holes. Then the two guys in front of me were slow the rest of the round and would not let me play through. When I got onto the back nine one of the employees that was buffing The green kept running up on me as I was trying to putt with his lawnmower and taking the flag out before I even got off the green, which I thought was pretty rude.
Hidden Gem
This is a great course tucked away in the woods just outside of Mancelona. Not too far from Shanty Creek and it’s 5 beautiful but high priced courses you can find great conditions, outstanding value and a fun layout at Lakes of the North. Well maintained tee boxes and greens are a big deal to me and this course has both. Also has several restrooms and water stations located throughout the course. The course is playable without being over challenging. I highly recommend working it in to your northern Michigan golf weekend.
Very Bland…
I have to admit that we were a two some but when you have a four some pushing you every hole, it’s slow play. The primary reason for my 3 stars though was that the course was very bland on most holes. Very straight, wide fairways, no imagination and vey little undulations (except for the greens which I found pleasantly challenging.)
A beautiful round of golf
This is one of my favorite courses. Everything is really well-maintained. The people are friendly. The golf carts are basic. I did have to skip one hole because the 4 people ahead of me didn't let me play through. The only real issue with playing in the morning is the noise coming from the maintenance vehicles and the fact that they seem to follow you around. I will bring ear plugs the next time I play that early in the morning. None of the amenities were operational that early.
Always a joy
This is one of my favorite golf courses. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. I love the fact that ample restrooms are available. I can't rate the amenities because those things were closed early in the morning when I played. My only caveat is that, at that hour, the maintenance crews are out maintaining the course. It was very noisy. It sometimes seemed as though they were following me around. Bring ear muffs or ear plugs if playing early.
Nice course
This is a very nice course. Conditions were great. Lots of trees.
Great Experience on a Well-Maintained Course
Visiting from Houston, TX, I found this course to be a refreshing change from what I'm used to back home. The layout is fairly wide open, making it enjoyable and approachable, but don't let that fool you—there's still plenty of challenge, especially when it comes to the greens. They were in excellent condition and definitely added to the test of skill. I played in a foursome and we were able to finish in under four hours, which made for a smooth, enjoyable round. Overall, a great golfing experience and one I’d happily return to!
Best round
First tee time and the course was amazing, Finally broke 90!
