Play at least once a year
Roughs are extremely long. It makes higher handicap players even hrder to make good contact so if you hit in the rough it will cost you at least one to two strokes per hole. Will only play if the group wants to play there.
Difficult
Course has unfairly tight fareways on 4 holes. The rough was so long that it was painful to hit some shots out of the rough. The greens were in good condition.
Disappointing
This course used to be nice and well taken care of. Was a bit pricey but overall was worth it. Now they charge even more and the course is in despicable shape. I would pay more than $35 for this. It’s sad to see the fall from grace and will be bought out for Pennie’s on the dollar by four winds eventually
You deserved 5 Big-Star .
So big wonderfully designed with natural woods, wetlands ,bunkers , 5 tee grounds and nicely manicured clean green( not damaged). Everything was just perfect Our team enjoyed very much for this time, because beautiful fall colors. NICE feeling on your staffs too. Definitely you belong to 5 stars !!!
SWTC
Very nice layout with friendly staff. Conditions did not match what they normally charge. Greens ran at a good speed and were smooth. The only reason I would not recommend this course to the average player is because the front nine will beat you up! If you miss a fairway you probably will lose the ball penalty for a bad shot is just to severe to make it enjoyable.
Course in bad shape
I played this course for the second time first was about 5 years ago. Layout still good and tough but was course conditions were disappointing. Several fairways had large significant brown areas enough so that I called the pro shop when we got to the 3rd hole. I was told that the conditions were caused by excessive rain. My first thought was that management was aware of the conditions but still charged the full rate of $105. I left a message for the manage and not surprisingly have not had the courtesy of a response. No mention of the poor condition of the driving range and chipping area. I live in Memphis and even through almost a month of no rain and 100 plus degree heat and humidity courses maintained fairways that still had grass and were in good condition at a third to half of this courses rate.
Challenging course.
Nice course. Having some issues with grass in the fairways. Other than that enjoyed the course.
pythium strikes again
A picturesque and interesting layout. Course is not well maintained. Pythium rot in several fairways. Greens are nice, a bit fuzzy and slower than expected .Lots of unrepaired divots, and many of the tees are hacked up. I would have expected better value from a course managed by Kemper. We only saw a couple of other groups on the day we played. The word must be out that it is extremely overpriced at $80. It is still steep for seniors at $45. I would play it again, but not for $80.
Don’t play here
Fairways had dead spot all over. You’re better off hitting out of the roughy. Food was not good either. Not worth the money to play here
A challenging layout
A nice track, the front is definitely harder than the back, but a nice layout all around.
We will return to play it again
Great condition
First time playing Whittaker this year, very impressed! Greens rolled true and held shots...tight fairways and fair roughs. Definitely worth my time on Father's Day!
Well kept
This course is amazing staff drive up to my car and help load bags. The clubhouse staff was very friendly. On the course they had water on ever 4 holes. With the weather it was much needed. The corse was well maintained. This was a great course to enjoy.
A memorable round
Tough but fair. Front nine difficult to navigate first time. Sure gets your full attention!
Challenging layout. Fairways need work
Overall it was a very challenging course. Extremely narrow. The fairways need some attention. Numerous dirt patches and uneven areas. Prepare to lose some balls.
If you are just off the fairway it rolls into very tall marshy type areas where it is almost impossible to find your ball. Once you reach the greens you will find even more of a challenge as the many undulations and slopes are prevalent on all 18 holes. Not worth the $105 Green fee. Probably worth $75 maximum which you can find on a hot deal.
