Lake Doster Golf Club
About
Lake Doster Golf Club in Plainwell is ranked as one of the top 25 golf courses in Michigan. The layout has undulating greens and watered fairways that will test even the most experienced golfers. The course is home to the affectionately nicknamed "Little Monster," its third hole, which boasts a reputation as the toughest par 3 in the state. This infamous hole features a tee that sits high above a treacherous green that is surrounded on three sides by water and even further protected with three sand traps. The hole is also completely isolated thanks to the surrounding mature trees. There is another par 3 on the golf course that is almost as equally tough, the 15th. There is a pond to the right that is seemingly out of play but it's still intimidating enough to push you too far left, risking a landing in the sand trap.

ex condition
tho iv played this course a few times iv not played here in 2 yrs untill yesterday.and id like to say it was even better then id remembered . take my word its a course to play.
Great Course
Outstanding course with great greens. Not many golfers on a Thursday afternoon and allowed for a leisure round of golf. Must play course in the Kalamazoo area.
Good course
I liked the course a lot. However I went in a dry period of the summer and it was a little hard compared to other nice course in my area. I did like it very much though.
Save your money
The course is not nearly in as good of shape as it used to be. Rough and fairways are not cut too often by the look of it. Greens were super slow and shaggy. Apart from that when I showed up for my tee time nobody was there, (I.e they hadn't showed up yet) and I could have played faster but they were changing the pins on the greens while I played EVERY hole. It didn't seem to bother the man changing the pins that he was holding my group up either. I suggest taking your money elsewhere.
No Water on Course
I don't understand this? a simple thing like keeping the ball washers filled should not be very hard to do, but every hole the ball washers were dry. Now come on guys don't be so lazy its the little things like this that keeps your rating down.
Good times
Had some fun playing. Some nice rolling hills. Fun water hazards lost some balls but a overall good time
Good
Play was slow, but this is one of our favorites.A must play.
Not Bad
Felt like I got what I paid for. Quite a few pitch marks on the green, and there was quite a bit of clover growing in the fairways, and a few of the tee boxes were pretty beat up. But pace of play was great, and the course wasn't overly challenging - on the short end, really. Didn't have to play the driver too often, as a 200-220 yard shot is sufficient to reach the green in 2 with a 7-8 iron. I'd play it again.
Good value for the price
They could use a marshal, played mid morning on a weekend, group in front of us (threesome) finished 2 holes behind foursome in front of them.
nice old course
One of the nicest par 3 holes I have ever played that is almost completely surrounded by water. I though this was a great course for the money and will definitely play there again.
Great Coarse!
Great Bang for Buck and I would play the coarse again!
OK
Green could use verticut, need a ranger on weekends. Played 18 holes, took 6 hrs. Other then that the round was enjoyable.
Great value for the course
Doster is not extremely challenging, but you need to hit it well. The holes are secluded and it isn't a spray it and hope course. Some mowing issues on the green, but minimal. I will surely play again and often! Much better shape than many of the courses that charge $10-$15 more in the area
Nice Course in a Friendly Neighborhood
Great time, I loved the atmosphere here. I will definitely be back again. The staff was friendly, the members were friendly, they made my experience very enjoyable. The course was in great shape, the area had received heavy rain the day before I went. but it had dried out nicely
Some of the toughest greens to putt on.
This course is all time favorite for me. The layout is perfect and super challenging when the greens are fast. I've seen lots of people putt off the greens here.
Great scenic course
Very well laid out course. Has a couple challenging holes that require some shot placement.
course condition could reflect early date and not mid season form, like my game.
Lake Doster was a pristine course that has suffered some issues and is now in recovery. i will return later this season to see how they are doing.
Average is most areas.
The course is average as to layout, maintenance, and eye appeal. Has a couple of tricky and scenic holes but also had some damage to greens. Much nicer courses are available in the area.
